Guilford U16 Boys’ Soccer Team Wins CT Cup

The Guilford boys’ U16 soccer team went undefeated on the spring season with eight wins, zero losses and one tie. They showed complete dominance and poise on the field as they took home the Connecticut Cup crown.

Guilford scored 33 goals and were scored on only eight times. Goalie Logan Wertheim had three shutouts on the campaign.

En route to the title, they beat Cheshire (3-0), Newtown (3-1) and South Windsor (5-1) in the final to take the CT Cup trophy. Goals for Guilford were scored by Vincent Malatesta (two goals), Wyatt Sprenkle, Danny Perez and Evan Arteaga in the final.

The spring squad was coached by Head Coach Ian Shannon and Assistant Coach Joe Malatesta.

Guilford also won the South Central District Title.
