Alberti, Baseggio Named Guilford Athletes of the Year
This past spring, Guilford High School (GHS) hosted its 62nd annual Senior Sports Awards Program and awarded their male and female Athletes of the Year. The event was sponsored by the Guilford Sideliners and was held at the GHS Auditorium.
This year’s recipients were Liam Alberti and Kat Baseggio.
Liam is a three-sport varsity captain in football, wrestling, and lacrosse. During his career at GHS, he was named All-Conference in lacrosse and wrestling, as well as All-State in wrestling. He was also named 2023 Lacrosse Team MVP and got the Coaches Award in football and wrestling his senior year. Liam is a member of the National Honor Society and was a threetime Scholar-Athlete. He will be heading to the Millbrook School (NY) to attend a post-graduate year.
Kat is also a three-sport varsity captain in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. Having made varsity for these sports from her freshman year, she was named SCC All-Conference First Team in soccer (2020, 2021, 2022) and All-State First Team (2021, 2022). She was also part of the squad that won the Class M State Championship in 2020. For lacrosse, she was named All-State First Team in 2021, 2022, and 2023 and SCC All-Conference First Team in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Kat was also part of the GHS girls’ lacrosse team that completed an unprecedented three-peat in the Class M State Championship. She is a member of the National Honor Society and French Honor Society and has been named a Scholar Athlete, making the Academic All-State team. She will be playing Division 1 lacrosse at the University of Delaware on an athletic scholarship next year.
