The Old Saybrook girls’ 4x100 relay team of Avery Rueckert, Talia Bauer, Sanai Baker and Abby Colella went to New Balance Outdoor Track and Field Nationals on June 17 for a second year and won the qualifying heat before placing third in the finals (beating Bloomfield in both New Englands and Nationals). Rueckert also competed in the 200 and finished 25th overall.

The Rams girls’ track team finished the year with Rueckert being the most decorated athlete of all-time at Old Saybrook. She holds records in both indoor and outdoor track, including the 55, 60, 100, 200, 300, 400, 4x400 and 4x100. She is the state champion in the 200 & 400 and State Open champion. She took third at New Englands and had two top 3 finishes at Nationals. She broke two 27 year-old records at Old Saybrook and a 44 year-old record at the 2023 Shoreline meet. She is committed to UNC Wilmington to run for the Seahawks.
