Shaw Sets All-Time Scoring Record for Adult Spring Basketball League


Branford White took sole possession of first place as Week Seven was intense for the Branford Parks and Recreation’s Adult Spring Hoops League.

Branford White took on Branford Red and grabbed a 76-68 win. Michael Lopes netted 31 of his game-high 48 points in the second half of play, including six 3-pointers. Teammate Ed Preiss chipped in with 11 points of his own. Restinel Lomotey paced Branford Red with 28 points.

Branford Blue defeated Branford Black in a tight contest that ended 49-45. In a defensive tested game, Branford Blue was led by 12 points from Joseph Ball and 11 points from captain Ryan Adinolfi. Lyman Depriest led all scorers with 19 points for Branford Black in the losing effort.

In Week Eight, Branford White stayed hot as they took down Branford Black 107-91. Setting the all-time record in the history of the Branford Parks and Recreation Men’s Basketball League, JD Shaw scored a whopping 60 points (26 in the first half and 34 in the second half), and teammate Michael Lopes added 17 as Branford White improved its record to 7-1. Cameron Garfield had a team and season-high 36 points in the loss for Branford Black.

Branford Red also grabbed a win on the week when they took down Branford Blue 76-56. Justin White hit on eight three-point field goal attempts en route to his team and game-high 42 points. Captain Restinel Lomotey chipped in with 14 points in the decision. Branford Blue was paced by Josh Mahon with 25 points, 18 of which came from three-point range.
