Hand Girls’ Tennis Wins All Four and Boys’ Tennis Takes First Loss of Season


Baseball

Baseball faced a challenging week last week, sandwiching a win between two losses. On May 1, they hosted Guilford in a 5-3 loss. They traveled to New Haven on May 3 to defeat Wilbur Cross 10-4 before heading to Fairfield where they fell 7-6 to Fairfield Prep. The Tigers are 7-9 for the season.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Boys’ lacrosse suffered two rare losses last week to bring their season record to 9-3. On May 1, they hosted Cheshire for a 14-9 loss. The Tigers traveled to Middletown on May 3 to defeat Xavier 16-9. They stayed on the road on May 6, falling to Ridgefield 11-8.

Boys’ Tennis

Boys’ tennis suffered its first loss of the season last week before bouncing back to record back-to-back wins. On May 1, the team traveled to Fairfield Prep for a 7-0 shutout loss. They returned home to host Stonington on May 4 and Amity on May 5 for a pair of 5-2 wins. The Tigers are now 12-1.

Boys’ Volleyball

It was a tough week for boys’ volleyball with the team picking up a single victory and three losses. They started the week at home, hosting Joel Barlow on May 1 for a 3-0 loss. Taking to the road on May 3, they fell 3-0 to Pomperaug before picking up a 3-0 victory at Cheney RVT on May 4. On May 8, the team traveled to Woodbridge for a 3-0 loss to Amity Regional. The Tigers are now 4-11 for the season.

Girls’ Lacrosse

Girls’ lacrosse suffered back-to-back losses last week, falling in both road games. ON May 1 they traveled to Cheshire for a 15-9 defeat. They were defeated at Ludlowe 10-9 on May 4. The team is now 9-4.

Softball

The tough season continued for Tigers softball as the team dropped its three contests last week.The Tigers started the week at home hosting Sheehan on May 1 in a 5-1 defeat and a 6-1 loss to North Haven on May 3. They traveled to Wodbridge on May 5, falling 6-3 to Amity Regional. The team is now 4-12 for the season.

Girls’ Tennis

Girls tennis added a quartet of wins last week to bring the season record to 10-1. Om May 1, the Tigers traveled to North Haven to pick up a 7-0 win. Singles players Laila Haraj-Sai (6-4, 6-4), Loden Bradstreet (6-4, 6-0), Antoinette Lowy (6-1, 6-1), and Emma Lee (6-3, 6-4) earned wins. The doubles duos of Libby Rogers/Ella Helfrich (6-1, 6-2), Teagan Ariyan/Juliana Jorens (6-4, 6-3), and Sofia Felgate/Mia Scott(6-1, 6-2) also picked up wins.

They stayed on the road May 2 for a 6-1 win over Branford. Bradstreet (6-2, 6-0), Lowy (6-1, 6-0), and Lee (6-3, 6-2) all earned wins. Rogers/Helfrich(6-1, 6-1), Ariyan/Jorens(2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3), and Felgate/Scott (6-2, 6-1) added doubles victories.

The Tigers returned home on May 3, hosting Lauralton Hall in a 7-0 win. Singles players Haraj-Sai (6-4, 6-2), Bradstreet (6-0, 6-0), Lowy (6-0, 6-0), and Lee (6-0, 6-1) chipped in victories, and the doubles teams of Rogers/Helfrich (6-1, 6-0), Ariyan/Jorens (2-6, 6-2, 6-3), and Felgate/Scott (8-5) also earned victories.

The team closed out hte week on May 5, traveling to defeat Cheshire 4-3. Bradstreet (6-4, 7-6 (7-3)) and Lowy (1-6, 6-0, 6-1) picked up singles victories in the effort, and Ariyan/Jorens (6-4, 6-3) and Felgate/Scott (7-6 (8-6), 6-3) added doubles wins.
