North Haven Softball Continues Perfect Season; Baseball Wins Three Straight
Baseball
Baseball brought its season record to .500 after posting three back-to-back wins. The team traveled to Hamden on May 1, picking up a 6-5 win. They returned home on May 3 to host Wallingford in a 3-2 win. The Nighthawks hosted Law on May 5, earning a 1-0 win. The team is now 7-7 for the season.
Boys’ Tennis
Boys’ tennis earned a pair of wins last week to bring the season record to 6-8. On May 1, they defeated Jonathan Law on the road 4-3. Lucas de Lencastre earned 6-1 and 6-0 victories and Jack Segna won two 6-1 sets. Parthiv Patel also earned a singles win (6-0, 6-0). The doubles team of Evan Looney and Alex Ranciato won 5-7, 6-4, 7-6.
On May 5, the Nighthawks hosted Wilcox Tech and earned a 7-0 win. For singles, de Lencastre (6-0, 6-0), Segna, Billy Lipinski (6-1, 6-4) and Nick Sabina (6-0, 6-0) all collected victories. On the doubles side, Looney and Jonathan Chin earned two 6-2 victories. Oscar Hammarlund and Hashim Ibrahim won 6-0, 6-0, and Robert Allison and Ellwyn Michael won 6-1, 6-0.
Girls’ Lacrosse
The tough season continued for girls’ lacrosse; the team recorded two more losses to bring their season record to 0-11. The Nighthawks hosted Hamden on May 1, falling to the visitors 16-3. On May 3, they hosted Sheehan and took a 16-4 loss.
Softball
The perfect season continues for Nighthawks softball. The team moved to 15-0 after posting three consecutive victories. On May 1, they traveled to Milford, picking up an 8-4 victory before hitting the road to Madison to defeat Daniel Hand 6-1. The Nighthawks returned home on May 5, narrowly defeating East Haven 6-5.
Girls’ Tennis
Girls’ tennis suffered two losses and earned a win last week, bringing the season record to 5-6. On May 1, the team hosted Daniel Hand in a 0-7 loss. They bounced back on May 2, hosting Sacred Heart Academy, earning the 6-1 victory. Guilford came to town on May 4, hanging an 0-4 loss on the Nighthawks.
Boys’ Lacrosse
Boys’ lacrosse took a pair of losses and a win last week. The team hosted Branford on May 2 in a 12-8 victory. On May 4, they traveled to Wallingford, falling to Sheehan in a 7-3 loss. Fitch came to town on May 6, hanging a 16-7 loss on their hosts. The Nighthawks are 6-5 for the season.
