East Haven Girls’ and Boys’ Tennis Split the Week; Softball Takes Two Losses
Boys’ Tennis
Boy’s tennis split the week, recording a win and a loss. On May 3, the team defeated Platt Tech on the road, 5-2. They recorded a 0-7 loss on May 4 on the road at Lyman Hall. The team is 4-12 for the season.
Softball
Softball had a challenging week, kicking off the week with a win followed by two losses. The team recorded a 17-2 road win at Hamden on May 1. They traveled to Woodbridge on May 3, falling 9-0 to Amity. On May 5, they took on North Haven on the road, falling in a narrow 6-5 defeat. The Yellowjackets are now 5-10 for the season.
Baseball
It was a tough week for baseball, with the team recording two losses and a win to bring the season record to 7-7. The team traveled to Woodbridge on May 1, taking a 5-3 defeat at the hands of Amity. They bounced back on May 3, hosting Lyman Hall in a 3-1 victory. They then hosted Foran on May 5, falling 13-4.
Girls’ Tennis
Girls’ tennis grabbed a pair of wins to close out the week after recording two losses. They hosted Mercy on May 1 in a 0-7 loss before traveling to Sheehan on May 4 in a 1-6 loss. The doubles duo of Hailey Ahumada/Alexis Lamprea recorded a 5-1 victory in the loss.
On May 5, they picked up a 4-3 win on the road at Wilcox Tech. Sydney Herard (6-0, 7-5) and Abby Brooks (6-3, 4-6, 6-3) won in singles matches. In doubles, Alyson Alberino/Annora Sayers (8-4) and Ahumada/Lamprea (8-6) picked up wins.
They hosted Wilcox Tech on May 6, earning another 4-3 victory. Herard (7-5, 5-7, 6-0) picked up a singles victory, and Alberino/Sayers (8-3), Diya Patel/Julia Nargi (8-2), and Ahumada/Lamprea (default) all earned doubles victories. The team is 8-6 for the season.
