Guilford baseball hosted Daniel Hand on April 10 and took a 2-0 loss. On April 11, the team traveled to Wilton and won 4-1 before falling 11-5 at West Haven on April 12. On April 14, the Grizzlies faced Cheshire on the road and grabbed a 7-3 victory.
Softball
Guilford softball took a 4-1 loss on the road at Waterford on April 11. On April 12, the Grizzlies faced West Haven at home and recorded a 10-5 victory before losing 3-2 at Sacred Heart Academy on April 14. Guilford hosted Career Magnet on April 17 and won 23-0.
Girls’ Lacrosse
Girls’ lacrosse hosted Sheehan on April 12, grabbing a 14-2 win. The next day, the Grizzlies hosted Wilton and lost 18-3. On April 17, Guilford played host to Sacred Heart Academy and won 17-7.
Boys’ Lacrosse
Guilford boys’ lacrosse traveled to Hall on April 11, grabbing a 14-5 win. On April 13, the Grizzlies hosted Simsbury and lost 11-6.
Boys’ Tennis
The Guilford boys’ tennis team traveled to Jonathan Law on April 10 and won 7-0. On April 13, the Grizzlies took a 5-2 loss at Xavier. Guilford’s wins in the match came from Pat Zhang/Avyay Yarlagadda (3-6, 6-3, 6-1) and Nate Greif/Taavi Carbone (6-3, 6-1).
Girls’ Tennis
The Guilford girls’ tennis team hosted Waterford on April 11 and recorded a 6-1 win.
Caroline Hergan grabbed a victory (4-6, 7-5, 10-6). Molly Peterson (6-0, 6-0) and Thitida Khambounhounag (6-0, 6-3) also won their singles matches. For doubles, Sophie Gochman/Peyton Lynch won (6-1, 6-1). Alexie Gipson/Gabby Kellner (7-5, 6-3) earned a victory, and Julia Castonguay/Mia Hardy (6-0, 6-1) also contributed to the team win.
On April 13, the girls traveled to Amity and took a 6-1 loss.
Golf
On April 17, Guilford golf hosted Daniel Hand and recorded a 150-176 loss.
Outdoor Track
On April 11, the Guilford boys’ and girls’ outdoor track teams competed in a tri-meet with Foran and North Haven. On the boys’ side, Guilford fell to Foran by a score of 84-57 and took a loss vs. North Haven by a score of 99-50.
Senior Josh Chen was Guilford’s man of the meet. He won the 100 meters (11.5) and the 200 meters (23.3). Chen also anchored the winning 4x400 meter relay (3:43.5), which included Max Freeman, Bretton Garrick, and Kyle Chen. Junior Coleman Love won the 1600 (4:40.3) and the 3200 (10:10.3). Sophomore Max Freeman came in second in the 400 (55.1) and took third overall in the triple jump (36’11”).
Guilford won the 4x100 meter relay (45.7). This team was comprised of Kyle Chen, Trevor Ridley, Colin Lataillade, and Michael O’Brien. Freshman Jack Faitsch came in second in the 800 meters (2:18.2), while seniors Colin Lataillade and Michael O’Brien tied for third in the 200 (24.3). Senior Bretton Garrick came in third (4:51.3). Guilford also took second in the 4x800 meter relay (9:11.0). Bretton Garrick, Coleman Love, Luca Scafidi, and Jack Faitsch were in the relay.
