Westbrook Girls’ Tennis Grabs First Loss; Boys’ Tennis Splits the Week


Baseball

The Westbrook baseball team took down Portland on the road on April 10 (12-11). On April 12, the Knights traveled to Coginchaug and took an 11-0 loss before losing 14-4 at East Hampton on April 14.

Softball

Westbrook/Old Saybrook softball played two games last week, losing 25-2 at home vs. Coginchaug on April 12. Then on April 14, they traveled to Haddam-Killingworth and lost 15-0.

Boys’ Tennis

Westbrook boys’ tennis faced Old Saybrook at home on April 12 and won 7-0.

Wins came from Elliot Koplas (6-0, 6-0), Josh Davy (6-0, 6-0), and Miles Hayden (6-0, 6-1). Enzo Adorno also grabbed a victory (6-0, 6-0). For doubles, wins were recorded by Ryan Engels/John Freund, Trevor Jones/Jon Brajczewski, and Dev Patel/Aiden Otrin (all by forfeit).

Then on April 14, the Knights traveled to Old Lyme and lost 7-0.

Girls’ Tennis

The Westbrook girls’ tennis team won its debut match on April 3 in 7-0 fashion at Haddam-Killingworth.

Wins for the Knights came from Meghan Bache (6-1, 6-0), Delaney Belcourt (6-1, 6-2), and Ava Ciarcia (6-0, 6-2). Caroline Dias also won her singles matchup (6-2, 6-1). For doubles, Olivia Palumbo & Adriana Stranieri grabbed a win (6-1, 6-1). Giovanna Silva and Natalie Palumbo also dominated (6-2, 6-0), and Gabby Spash and Norah Hayden grabbed a 6-0, 6-3 defeat.

They then played host to Cromwell on April 4, winning 6-1, before taking a third straight win (7-0) at East Hampton on April 5. In the Cromwell match, Bache (6-1, 6-2), Ciarcia (2-6, 6-2,(7-2), and Dias (6-3, (7-5) all won their matchups. Palumbo/Stranieri (6-0, 6-0), Silva/Palumbo (6-1, 6-3), and Spash/Hayden (6-0, 6-0) grabbed victories.

On April 10, the Knights grabbed a 7-0 win at North Branford before beating Old Saybrook 7-0 at home.

On April 14, Westbrook took its first loss of the season in a 7-0 defeat vs. Old Lyme.
