Valley baseball started the season off strong, taking a commanding 10-0 home win in the season opener on April 3 vs. East Hampton. They then won a close 10-9 contest vs. Morgan on April 5, before losing 7-6 on April 6 at Cromwell.
Softball
Valley softball fell in its season opener, 11-5 at East Hampton on April 3. The Warriors then hit the road for Clinton to face the Morgan Huskies on April 5, grabbing a 15-5 win. On April 6, Valley hosted Cromwell and took a 14-1 loss before falling 23-4 vs. Haddam-Killingworth on April 8.
Boys’ Lacrosse
Warriors boys’ lacrosse played their season opener on April 1, falling to Granby Memorial on the road by a score of 16-9. They then faced Cromwell at home on April 4 and claimed a 16-6 win before losing 8-3 on April 6 vs. North Branford.
Girls’ Lacrosse
Valley girls’ lacrosse opened up the season with an 18-8 loss at Cromwell on April 4. They then faced North Branford on the road on April 6 and fell 16-4.
Boys’ Tennis
The Valley boys’ tennis team began their season on April 3 with a 5-2 win at Coginchaug. In Singles, Thomas Dahl (Valley) defeated Ian Wiessberg (Coginchaug) 6-0, 6-0. Aidan Garrity (Valley) took down Jake Raney (Coginchaug) 6-1, 6-0. Shep Whitney of Valley also picked up a victory, defeating Coginchaug’s Clayton Wiseman 6-0, 6-3. Jared Brower (Valley) took a Singles loss to Jason Letourneau 4-6, 3-6. For Doubles, Valley’s Ed Johnson and Ryan Poulin collected a victory (6-3, 6-1) over Coginchaug’s John Parmelee and Jacob Kasienski. Another Doubles pair that grabbed a win was John Alberto and Jack Berardinelli, who won by Forfeit. Valley’s Willem Fitton and Nic Cartagena took a loss (2-6, 6-3, 5-7) to Coginchaug’s Eli Wiseman and Matt Kobus.
The Warriors then traveled to Portland on April 5 and collected a 6-1 win before losing 7-0 at home vs. Morgan on April 6.
Girls’ Tennis
The Valley girls’ tennis team grabbed a 6-1 win in its first match of the season at home on April 3 vs. Coginchaug. Valley’s Olivia Baldwin (1-6, 0-6), Joanna Petrone (6-0, 6-2), Natalie Novak (6-0, 6-0), and Hannah Schwartzman (7-5, 6-0) all played Singles matchups. For Doubles, Samara Shanker/Clara Shea grabbed a win (6-1, 6-0). Regan Grow and Alessia Pisanzio (6-0, 6-1) were partners, and Ashley Cap and Fallyn Belisle (6-1, 6-1) helped propel the Warriors to the victory.
Valley then beat Portland on the road by a score of 7-0 on April 5 prior to picking up another win (6-1) on April 6 at Morgan.
