Baseball

The North Haven baseball team opened up its season with a home loss vs. Daniel Hand on April 3 by a score of 7-4. Tyler Kornacki had two hits including a homerun. Steven Vincent recorded the loss on the mound. They then traveled to East Haven on April 5, where they narrowly fell 7-6 to the Yellowjackets.

Softball

On April 3, the North Haven softball team won its season opener at home by a score of 11-6 over Staples. The Nighthawks then grabbed a second straight victory in a 17-2 contest at Shelton on April 5, and won 11-3 at Lauralton Hall on April 8.

Boys’ Tennis

The North Haven boys’ tennis team took two straight losses to start the season, First, they fell to Cheshire at home by a score of 6-1 on April 3. In Singles, Andrew Gershfeld of Cheshire defeated Lucas de Lencastre 6-4, 6-2. Ben Wu (Cheshire) took down Seth Tobin 6-4,7-5. Shawn Lawless (Cheshire) beat Minh Nguyen 6-3, 7-5 while Luke Hays (Cheshire) recorded a win over Billy Lipinski 6-4,6-1. In Doubles, Luke Hayden/Phil Dickinson (Cheshire) defeated Jess Hansard/Jack Segna 7-6 (5), 6-3, and Jon Chen/Will Borland (Cheshire) grabbed the victory over Parthiv Patel/Nathan Oh 5-7, 6-1, 10-8 in a Super Tie-breaker. Finally, Evan Looney/Alex Ranciato (North Haven) defeated Mike Anastasio/Ramin Mirzeee 7-5, 7-6 (5).

On April 4, North Haven took a 5-2 home loss vs. Wilbur Cross. In Singles, Lucas de Lencastre (North Haven) defeated Jashaun Ogarro 6-0, 6-0, Kurt Boone (Wilbur Cross) took down Seth Tobin 6-2, 6-1, and Young In Kim (Wilbur Cross) beat Xander Jack Segna 6-3, 6-2. Adam Shargawe (Wilbur Cross) got the win over Billy Lipinski 3-6, 7-5, 7-5. On the Doubles side, Jess Hansard/Adil Upadhyay (North Haven) defeated Cassius Morganme/Mario Berrios 6-2, 6-4. Aki Hussain/Matteo Festa (Wilbur Cross) took down Parthiv Patel/Nathan Oh 7-6 (11), 6-2, while Vikram Balal/Julian Thoedore (Wilbur Cross) claimed a victory over Evan Looney/Alex Ranciato 6-3, 6-4.

The Nighthawks traveled to Daniel Hand on April 6, recording a 7-0 loss. Elliott Booth defeated Seth Tobin 6-0, 6-0. Matt Vetter took down Minh Nguyen 6-1, 6-0. Andrew Seehausen recorded a win over Jack Segna 6-0, 6-1, and Konstintino took down Parthiv Patel 6-0, 6-1. For Doubles, Paul Fumax/Deacon Wilkens beat Jess Hansard/Adil Upadhyay 6-1, 6-1. Will Doss/Gavin Waterman grabbed a win over Evan Lodney/Nathan Oh 6-3, 6-0, and Trent Wiles/Patrick McEwen beat Johnthan Clin/Robert Allison 6-0, 6-1.

Girls’ Tennis

North Haven girls’ tennis lost its first match of the season in a 5-2 loss at Daniel Hand on April 3. On April 4, the Nighthawks traveled to Guilford and lost 6-1.

Girls’ Lacrosse

The North Haven girls’ lacrosse team started its season on April 3 when they took a 19-1 loss at Cheshire. They then returned home on April 5 vs. Shelton, falling 12-2.

Boys’ Lacrosse

The Nighthawks boys’ lacrosse team took a 21-1 loss at home vs. Fairfield Prep on April 4, their first contest of the season. Then on April 6, they faced Wilbur Cross at home and won 14-1 before losing 10-4 on April 8 at Haddam-Killingworth.
