Morgan Boys’ Tennis, Boys’ Lacrosse Win Two Straight
Baseball
The Morgan baseball team started its season on April 3, taking a 8-1 loss at North Branford. On April 5, they played at Valley Regional and lost 10-9 before falling 7-1 at home vs. Haddam-Killingworth on April 7. On April 8, they faced Guilford at home and lost 17-5.
Softball
Morgan softball lost its first game of the season on April 3 at home to North Branford by a score of 19-4. On April 5, the Huskies faced Valley Regional at home and fell 15-5 and traveled to Haddam-Killingworth on April 7 and recorded a 15-3 loss.
Boys’ Tennis
Morgan boys’ tennis had its first match of the season on April 3, when they defeated Portland on the road by a 7-0 score. In Singles, Joseph Morse (Morgan) defeated Ryan Kerr (Portland) 6-1, 6-0. Matt Lopez (Morgan) beat Ben McGrew (Portland) 6-2, 6-1, and Steven Kinser (Morgan) got the win over Eliott Rowland (Portland) 6-0, 6-0. Nick Bausch (Morgan) recorded a win over Cooper Rettich (Portland) 6-1, 6-0. On the Doubles side, Morgan won 1, 2 and 3 Doubles by forfeit. The Huskies then traveled to Valley Regional on April 6 won 7-0.
Girls’ Tennis
Morgan girls’ tennis took a road win on April 3 over Portland by a score of 5-2 before traveling to Haddam-Killingworth on April 5 and winning 6-1. On April 6, they faced Valley Regional at home and took a 6-1 loss.
Boys’ Lacrosse
Morgan boys’ lacrosse defeated Old Lyme on the road by a score of 15-5 on April 3 in its first game of the season. On April 6, the Huskies traveled to Old Saybrook and won a close 9-8 contest.
Girls’ Lacrosse
The Morgan girls’ lacrosse team took a 7-3 loss at home vs. Old Lyme in its first game of the season on April 3, followed by a 14-8 deficit at home on Apri 6 vs. Old Saybrook.
Golf
The Morgan golf team took on Coginchaug on April 4, taking a 199-206 loss. For the Huskies, Jack Nye led the way with a score of 44, followed by Ray Swan with 47 and Robert Bergman with 56. Jacob Jones shot a 59 and Tyler Baldwin scored 64.
Outdoor Track
The Morgan boys’ and girls’ outdoor track teams competed in the Bellringer Invitational in East Hampton on April 1. Anastasia Luke placed ninth in both the 200 meters (29.07) and the 400 meters (1:07.62). In the 800 meters, Natalie Estabrook was 17th (2:48.87). Addy Reed (6:01.18) came in ninth in the 1600 meters, and Olivia Ruotolo (18.63) finished in fourth in the 100. Destiny Rehberg (63-02) placed 10th in the Javelin and seventh (55.53) in the 300.
Logan Pernal, Caeley Ayer, Ruotolo and Luke (54.83) took fourth in the 4x100 relay. Sophie Morello, Reed, Estabrook and Kate Gardner (11:23.70) claimed fourth place in the 4x800 relay. Kaydence Koloskie-Phelps (14-00.50) claimed a first place finish in the Long Jump and Ashley Inglis took seventh (12-11.50). Lily Morgan Tanner (26-07.00) and Gabriella Navarra (25-08.00) took sixth and seventh place, respectively, in the Triple Jump.
On the boys’ side, Michael Fusco (24.55) took eighth in the 200 meters and sixth (55.91) in the 400 meters. Robby Estabrook grabbed first place (147-00) in the Javelin and 12th (93-00) in the Discus. Owen Lombardi (13:00.95) placed 15th in the 3200 meters.
