Buddy Track Accepting Registrations
Deep River Parks and Recreation sponsors Buddy Track, now in its 10th year.
This program is designed to offer track and field events to unique learners ages five and up. Each player athlete is teamed with a buddy to enjoy all aspects of this track and field program.
Registration is now open for both athletes, ages five and up, as well as volunteer buddies. The minimum age of the buddy helpers is 14 years old or at least 8th grade. Well-respected local coaches, teachers, staff, and volunteers work together to offer this great program.
The program runs for three consecutive weeks, meeting on Wednesdays, April 26, and May 3 and 10 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the track at Valley Regional High School, 256 Kelsey Hill Road, Deep River.
The program is rain or shine, moving into the school gymnasium if the weather is inclement. Participants are encouraged to attend all three weeks of the session.
This non-competitive program will feature six track and field events: running relay, javelin (turbojav), 100 meter run, shot put, long jump, and hurdles. No prior track and field experience is required.
