Branford Boys’ Ice Hockey Falls in State Semis; Boys’ Swimming and Diving Stands Out at State Tournaments

The Branford boys’ ice hockey season came to an end in the semifinals of state tournament play, after they fell to #2 Woodstock on March 15 by a score of 8-5.
Boys’ Swimming and Diving
The Hand boys’ swimming and diving co-op team competed in the Class M Diving Championships on March 8 and the Swimming Championships on March 16. On the swimming side, they placed fourth as a team with 356 points.
The 200 yard medley relay team of Jonah Kehew, Matthew Gentil, Elliot Lee and Adam Signorello took second place with a time of 1:38.99. Signorello also took eighth place (1:52.97) in the 200 yard freestyle. Lee won the 200 yard IM (1:49.56) and Gentil (2:05.23) took eighth place in that event. Lee also grabbed first place in the 100 yard butterfly (49.70). Kehew took first place in the 100 yard backstroke (52.01) and Gentil grabbed second in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:00.49).
Another first place finish went to the 400 yard freestyle relay team (3:16.02) consisting of Lee, Signorello, Kehew, and Gentil. At the State Open on March 18, Hand placed 13th as a team. Lee won the 1200 yard IM with a time of 1:49.08, as well as the 100 yard butterfly (49.51). Kehew claimed eighth place in the 100 yard backstroke (53.17).The 400 yard freestyle relay team (Lee, Signorello, Kehew, and Gentil) took fifth place (3:14.93).
