The Madison 4th grade girls’ travel basketball team won two tournaments on March 5, making it three total tournament wins on the season.

They played at 1 p.m. in Waterford in the 43rd annual Neil Hoelck Tournament. Madison beat the New London All Stars 23-13. That was followed by a 3:45 p.m. game at Polson Middle School for the league championship (Connecticut Basketball Conference Tournament). They beat Newington 23-14 in that game.

After a great season in which they collected 10 wins and three losses in the regular season, the team had two victories before the championship game in the Waterford Tournament, and after having previously taken both a win and a loss against Newington in the regular season, they had three consecutive wins in the CT Basketball Conference Tournament before coming out on top against Newington in the championship game.

The team previously won the Rhode Island Youth Basketball Association’s MLK weekend basketball tournament in East Greenwich, Rhode Island in January and had an 11-1 record overall in the three tournaments.

The team is coached by John Reh, Kevin Cahill, Kyle Francis, and Russ Brinn.

The full team roster includes Sarah Rosenthal, Allison Maynard, Harper Scheps, Elizabeth Cahill, Victoria Reh, Brooklyn Brinn, Halston Mattioda, Emma Szwejkowski, Sally Foley, Mia MacArthur, Lilly Francis, and Rylee Meade.
