North Branford Boys’ Ice Hockey Drops Regular Season Finale; Girls’ Basketball Starts off Strong in States
Boys’ Ice Hockey
Thunderbirds boys’ ice hockey recorded a loss on Feb. 27, falling 2-1 to visiting Daniel Hand. The lone North Branford goal was scored by Jack Maley, assisted by CJ Sherwood and Michael Matteo. Goaltender and senior captain Aidan Geist had 29 saves in net.
Girls’ Basketball
Girls’ basketball took a hot start in tournament play, recording back-to-back wins to advance to the Class S quarterfinals. They began tournament play on Feb. 28, taking on Stafford in a 67-57 victory. They faced Lyman Memorial on March 3 in a 58-53 victory.
Boys’ Basketball
Although not having the season they hoped for this year, North Branford boys’ basketball had a standout player who was awarded for his efforts. Senior Jordan DeJesus was named an honorable mention to the Shoreline All-Conference Team this season.
