Boys’ basketball split the week, recording a loss on the road and a win at home. On Feb. 21, the team traveled to Windsor Locks in a 68-49 loss. Tate Callender and Blake Kamoen scored 14 points each while Andrew Crayton added 12. Declan Moriarty also contributed nine points. H-K returned home on Feb. 23 to host Grasso Tech for a 67-46 victory on Senior Night. Tate Callender led the way with 21 points, five steals, four rebounds, and two assists. Andrew Crayton scored 18 points and Blake Kamoen scored 12 points. Declan Moriarty contributed six points and one steal. Jay Evans, Joe Giaccone, Cody Robinson, Orion Inkel, and Jason Maziarz all added two points to make the win a full team effort. The Cougars ended the season 7-13.
Boys’ Ice Hockey
The Rocky Hill boys’ hockey co-op picked up a road victory on Feb. 25, defeating the Housatonic co-op 7-4. They are 5-13 for the season.
Girls’ Ice Hockey
The Daniel Hand girls’ ice hockey co-op took a loss last week to bring their overall record to 7-9-1. They hosted Watertown-Pomperaug on Feb. 22, falling 6-4.
Wrestling
Haddam-Killingworth took fourth place at the Class S State Tournament on Feb. 17-18, with 165 team points and first-place finishes from Cavin Napoletano (160 pounds) and Jacob Martone (170 pounds). Both of these seniors took second place the previous year. Fourth place finishes were made by junior Cooper Pitts (182 pounds) and Will Lirot “TOES” (152 pounds) who were both JV wrestlers last year. Sixth place finishes were made by a pair of cousins, Gunnar Howes (126 pounds) and Noah McCarthy (113 pounds).
