North Branford Girls’ and Boys’ Ice Hockey Both Split the Week


Girls’ Ice Hockey

The Guilford girls’ ice hockey co-op split the week, posting a win at home and a loss on the road to bring their season record to 10-11. The team faced Masuk on Feb. 20 in a 4-2 win. They hit the road on Feb. 22 in a 5-1 loss to West Haven.

Boys’ Ice Hockey

Boys’ ice hockey split the week, taking both a win and a loss on the road. North Branford traveled to Milford on Feb. 22 and walked away with a 6-5 win over the Milford Co-op. Michael Matteo, on an assist from Connor Stoner, got the T-Birds on the board 4:44 into the first period. CJ Sherwood scored five total goals in the game, with an unassisted goal as well as two scores assisted by Jake Pedersen, and another one assisted by Stoner. Finally, Jack Maley found Sherwood for his fifth score of the night in the third period. Sophomore Greg Galasso made his first start in goal. The T-Birds then took a 6-2 loss to Masuk in Shelton on Feb. 25. Maley assisted Matteo for North Branford’s first score of the night, and Maley scored the second goal before the final buzzer. The T-Birds are now 9-8-2 on the season.
