Indoor Track

The Guilford girls’ indoor track team overall had a successful season with many outstanding performances. Some standouts on the track included in the SCC East Sectionals meet, in which everyone qualified and advanced to the full SCC Championship meet, a rare occurrence in the sport. At the SCC Championship meet, the 4x800 meter relay team (Olivia Kaisin, Paige Ponzio, Alexa Suchy, and Clara Gahm) won the race with a time of 10:07.85. In the 1000 meter race, junior Clara Gahm won the event with a time of 3:14.06. In that same event, freshman Summer Mangan ran a time of 3:31.86, placing 10th.

In the 1600 meters, senior Alexa Suchy ran a time of 5:34.50, placing sixth. In that same event, junior Julianna Montgomery ran a time of 6:06.3, junior Michaela Hogan ran a time of 6:07.96, and sophomore Jillian Evens ran a time of 6:15.89.

In the high jump, sophomore Lily Sullivan jumped 4-04.00, and in the 600 meters, sophomore Daniella Selig ran a time of 1:46.7, placing fifth.

At the Class L State Championship, Clara Gahm broke the school record set by Katie Ferrall during the 2011-12 season in the

1000 meters. Katie’s time was 3:04.60, and Clara finished with a time of 3:03.45, a time that also got her to the State Open Championship. The 4x800 relay team (Daniella Selig, Paige Ponzio, Olivia Kaisin, and Alexa Suchy) ran a time of 10:10.25, also qualifying for the State Open.

Senior captain Alexa Suchy spoke highly of teammate Clara Galm’s performance this season.

“As for any outstanding runners, Clara Gahm has had a lot of success this past season, even coming off of a hip injury from August. Unfortunately, she missed the majority of cross country; however, [she] made an incredible recovery. Clara won SCCs for the 1000 and was also a member of the 4x800 team that won SCCs as well. Clara also came in fifth for the Class L Championships with a time of 3:03, setting a school record for the 1000. All of the girls on the team look up to her. She has a constant positive attitude and smile on her face that inspires us all to work harder,” said Suchy.
