Girls’ basketball ended the regular season on a high note, recording a 49-40 victory at home over Branford on Feb. 13. The team entered the postseason as the 11th-ranked team in the SCC and took on sixth-ranked Sheehan as their first opponent in the SCC Tournament. The Yellowjackets suffered a 53-45 defeat in the first round on Feb. 16. They finished the regular season 13-7.
Girls’ Ice Hockey
The Guilford girls’ ice hockey co-op snagged a pair of wins last week. The team recorded a 3-1 win over Fairfield Ludlowe/Warde on Feb. 13, and they hit the road to face Ridgefield/Danbury/Immaculate on Feb. 17, taking a 5-4 overtime victory. They are 9-10 for the season.
Boys’ Basketball
Boys’ basketball had a challenging week, recording a pair of losses and a win. The team hit the road on Feb. 14 in a 63-48 loss against North Haven. They returned home on Feb. 15 to host Branford and recorded a 52-47 victory. The Yellowjackets ended the week and the regular season on Feb. 17, recording an 86-57 loss against visiting Guilford. Their regular season record is 5-14.
Boys’ Ice Hockey
The East Haven boys’ co-op ice hockey team took a 2-2 tie on Feb. 15 at home against Watertown/Pomperaug. The visitors scored the first two goals in the first period, but East Haven’s John D’Albero converted a second period penalty shot, unassisted, to make the score 2-1. Michael Savo scored on a power play at the 7:17 mark of the third period to tie the game. The assist was credited to John D’Albero. Jon-Paul Garea recorded 43 saves in net while allowing the two goals. The team is 4-6-2 for the season.
Wrestling
On Feb. 17-18, the Yellowjackets competed in the Class M State Wrestling Championship. East Haven finished in 16th overall as a team, and Jason Toth took second in the 195-pound weight class.
