02/13/2023 11:04 AMThe Westbrook Athletic Boosters will hold its second annual Freezin’ for the Season polar plunge into Long Island Sound on Sunday, Feb. 26.
The event will open at noon for food and activities. The Turtle Cafe will be on hand with a food truck, and free coffee from Julies Cup of Joe and hot chocolate from Dunkin Donuts will be provided. Edd’s Place will provide a free s’mores fire pit.
Ed Sabotino from 99.1 WPLR will be announcing that day, and there will be a 50/50 raffle, as well as a free raffle hosted by Best Rates Insurance with prizes including a $50 gift certificate to Julie’s Cup of Joe, a $50 gift certificate to Café Routier, a $50 gift certificate to Westbrook Lobster, and a $120 gift certificate to 640 Massage (donated by 640 Massage).
The plunge will take place around 2 p.m. and ends between 2:30 and 3 p.m. Last year, more than 250 people attended the event, and more than 65 plunged into the Sound.
Registration is $25 per plunger and can be done on the Westbrook Athletic Boosters website below at westbrookathleticboosters.com/fundraisers/2023-freezin-for-the-season.
