Southington-Coginchaug-Westbrook boys’ ice hockey suffered a 3-2 loss on Jan. 27 against Enfield-East Granby-Stafford. The team is 0-11 on the season. They traveled to Cromwell to play the Rocky Hill co-op on Jan. 30 and Milford on Feb. 1 (after press time). They will travel to Ridgefield on Friday, Feb. 3, to take on Wilton.
Girls’ Ice Hockey
The Hand girls’ ice hockey co-op suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of the visiting Suffield co-op 5-4 on Jan. 28. The Tigers are now 8-4 on the season. They were set to travel to Ridgefield to take on Wilton/Norwalk/McMahon on Feb. 1 (after press time). The team will take on Woodstock Academy co-op on the road on Friday, Feb. 3, and will travel to Stamford to face Stamford/Westhill/Staples on Saturday, Feb. 4.
Boys’ Basketball
The Knights boys’ basketball team took two losses this week, posting a loss at home against Morgan and one on the road vs. East Hampton. Westbrook hosted Morgan on Jan. 24, falling 52-38. Brandon Naccarato had 31 points and five rebounds, while Ryan Engles had six assists. They then traveled to East Hampton on Jan. 27 for a 60-45 road loss. Brandon Naccarato had 23 points, including the 1000th of his career. Vin Naccarato had seven points and 10 rebounds, and Elliot Koplas had seven points. The team is now 1-14. Up next is Coginchaug on Tuesday, Jan. 31 (after press time) and Old Saybrook on Friday, Feb. 3.
Girls’ Basketball
The girls’ basketball team suffered a pair of conference losses last week, moving their record to 3-8 in the conference and 5-9 overall. The Knights traveled to Clinton to face Morgan on Jan. 24, recording a 33-25 loss. They hosted East Hampton on Jan. 27 for a 64-16 defeat. The team took on Coginchaug on the road on Jan. 31 (after press time) and will host Old Saybrook on Friday, Feb. 3.
