Warriors Take Win in the Pool Over Cheshire
The Greater New Haven Warriors swimming and diving team competed against Cheshire on Jan. 17, winning by a score of 90-71. There was a variety of standout and dominating performances by the Warriors.
In the 200 Medley Relay, Greater New Haven recorded a time of 1:57.01 to win the race. The relay team consisted of Spencer Carroll (North Branford), William Cong (Guilford), Jeffrey Cheng (Guilford), and Aiden Cohen (Guilford).
Josue Bravo (East Haven) won the 200 freestyle, finishing with a time of 1:57.18, with teammates Sam Mayo (Guilford) and William Cong placing second and third, respectively. Alex Hansen (Guilford) also came in first in the 200 individual medley (2:14.78). Joey Gould (Guilford) placed second in this event.
Aiden Cohen won the 50 Freestyle with a time of 23.39, putting him in first place, while Christian Butler (North Haven) won the 1 meter diving event (271.90). Teammate Natalya Guerrero (North Branford) finished shortly behind Christian in second place.
Lucas Espinosa (Guilford) took home the first place crown in the 100 butterfly, with a finishing time of 1:00.05, while RT Trotter (Guilford) finished in second place.
The 100 freestyle is always a quick, intense race, but Cheshire’s Alex Fang delivered a time of 51.69 to win. Josue Bravo represented the Warriors in second place.
Kristian Adlianitski of Cheshire won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:08.04, and the Rams’ foursome won the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.71).
Kevin Xie won the 100 backstroke for Cheshire (1:17.36), and Silas Wong followed with a win in the 100 breaststroke for the Rams (1:03.60).
Cheshire closed out the day by winning the 400 freestyle relay, but it wasn’t enough, as the Warriors grabbed a team win.
