Guilford Wrestling Falls in Close Contest Against Fairfield Prep

On Jan. 17, the Guilford wrestling team lost a hard-fought match to Fairfield Prep by a score of 37-31. A variety of athletes helped contribute in individual bouts.

Killian Thompson of Guilford took a victory over Fairfield Prep’s Finn Mara in the 106-pound bout. Sebastian Rodriguez gave Fairfield Prep a win in the 120-pound bout, beating Dante Bilskis by a 4-2 decision.

Alex Uzzo won the 126-pound bout for the Grizzlies, taking down Tyler Paterson at the 1:10 mark. Prep’s Christian Borges defeated Guilford’s Bodhi Climie at the 7:25 mark in the 132-pound contest.

In the 138-pound match, Elijah McDermott of Guilford took down Franco Arduino by a 14-4 decision, and Jack Lilly won the 145-pound bout for Fairfield Prep over Colton Deboda of Guilford.

At 152 pounds, Farrell Nivrose (Fairfield Prep) took down Dominic Bilskis (Guilford) by a 10-8 decision. Teammate William Smith won the 160-pound bout over Jean-Paul Meguerditchian by forfeit.

Alejandro Colberg-Martinez snagged a victory in the 170-pound match, defeating Fairfield Prep’s Tyler Smith at the 3:49 mark.

Thomas Morales and Malachi Mercer-Robinson grabbed wins in the 182 and 285-pound bouts, respectively, for Fairfield Prep. Morales took down James Mahoney (16-8), and Mercer-Robinson defeated Logan Murphy at the 3:58 mark.

Liam Alberti and Tim Hastings grabbed wins for Guilford in the 195 and 220-pound bouts, respectively. Alberti won by forfeit over Hilton Rodriguez, and Hastings won a 10-5 decision over Benjamin Virgulak.
