Huskies Produce Top Finishes at Shoreline Meet
On Jan. 12, the Morgan boys’ and girls’ indoor track and field teams participated in the Shoreline League Meet, and produced many good results.
In the mens’ 55 meter dash, Jack Bousqet placed 10th, with a time of 7.49. Aiden Campion finished at 7.74, in 21st place, and Cesar Martinez placed 28th, with a time of 7.96.
Other standout finishers for the Huskies in this event were: Cesar Martinez (28th), Chayton Kattermann (29th), Ravi Kadel (30th), Travis Aiken (42nd), and Cameron Anderson (54th).
Morgan also produced strong results in the womens’ 55 meter dash. Logan Pernal finished in fifth with a time of 8.12, Gabriella Navarra was 25th with a time of 8.75, and Shannon Slie recorded a time of 9.01, for 32nd place.
Ainsleigh Landino came in 50th place at 9.72, Rosalie Fluery was 54th (10.23), and Shania Weisse found her stride to finish with a time of 10.38 (56th place).
The mens’ 300 meter race produced many good results for the Huskies as well.
Matt Menacho came in 20th at 45.08. Teammate Chayton Kattermann was closely behind him in 22nd place, with a time of 45.42. Travis Aiken (46.22) and Cameron Anderson (47.76) finished in 25th and 28th place, respectively.
On the female side, Julia White had a second place performance, with a time of 46.41. Emily Smith came in 14th (50/07), and Logan Pernal finished with a time of 50.46 for 15th place. Gabriella Navarra’s 25th place time was 52.78.
Sebastian Kadlof and Trevor Leach finished in fourth place and 19th place, respectively, in the 600 meters. Kadlof’s time was 1:34, and Leach’s time was 1:54.
Natalie Estabrook had a standout time of 1:56 on the women’s side of the 600 meter race, for a ninth place finish.
Matt Menacho recorded a time of 3:01 in the 1000 meters, finishing in fourth place. Sophia Morello represented the Huskies well for the women, finishing in 10th with a finishing time of 3:58.
Morgan produced some standout performances in the distance races, as well.
In the 1600, Aiden Bothwell found himself in 16th place, finishing the race with a time of 6:11, and Owen Lombardi finished the 3200 in 10th place, with a time of 13:10.
Brooke Carlisle finished the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 10.96, a ninth place performance.
There were a variety of relay teams who stepped up at the event, as well.
In the men’s 4x200 meters, a team consisting of Jack Bousquet, Michael Fusco, Seamus Staunton, and Carlos Oliva took third place at 1:43. On the female side, Logan Pernal, Emily Smith, Brooke Carlisle, and Julia White took a fourth place finish, with a time of 2:01.
The Huskies had second place performances in both the men’s and women’s 4x400 relay. Michael Fusco, Seamus Staunton, Carlos Oliva, and Sebastian Kadlof recorded a time of 3:48. Brooke Carlisle, Natalie Estabrook, Sophia Morello, and Julia White recorded a time of 4:49.
Seamus Staunton came in 11th place in the men’s shot put, coming in at 32-03 feet. Ravi Kadel came in 16th (30-08), Cesar Martinez was 36th (25-07), and Chayton Kattermann was 43rd (22-07).
For the women, Ainsleigh Landino (20-01) came in ninth place, and Shannon Slie (17-11) was 14th.
Finally, in the men’s long jump, Carlos Oliva recorded a length of 17-00, good enough for a seventh place finish. Following closely behind was Travis Aiken, with a 10th place score of 14-10. Hayden Walter (12-03) was 16th place.
