Hornets Girls’ Indoor Track and Field Team Produces Many Top Finishes in SCC Developmental Meet

On Jan. 4, the Branford girls’ indoor track and field team competed at the SCC Developmental Meet II at the Floyd Little Athletic Center. There were many notable performances for the Hornets in the contest.

Top performances for Branford included Tess Wasiolek in the 600 meter run, in which she placed first with a time of 1:44.59. This was Wasiolek’s personal best, in her first race of the year. Joelle Budz came in third in the 55 meter race, recording a time of 7.70. Budz also placed sixth in the 300 meters, with a finishing time of 44.90. On the distance side, Violet Marrandino finished in fourth place in the 1600, coming in at 5:40.69. Ella Stone’s Long Jump score of 15' 11.75" found her in sixth place, and Taylor Tracy recorded an impressive 24' 8.25" in the Shot Put.

Head Coach Kevin Connell shared his comments after the race: “Although this was only our second meet, we saw more significant improvement and many personal bests. We've got a few weeks before the SCC West sectional and our top athletes are turning in excellent performances.”
