On Dec. 21, the North Haven boys’ hockey team made the long trip South on I-95 to take on the Greenwich Cardinals, an SCC Division 1 opponent. The Nighthawks struck first in the contest, as Will Sullivan made it 1-0 at 4:39 of the first period, with Tommy Guidone picking up the assist. The score remained that way until the third period, when Will Sullivan continued to stay red hot as he gave the Nighthawks a 2-0 lead at 3:20 of the period. Tommy Guidone and Owen Quick picked up the assists on the goal. Greenwich scored at 10:57 to close the game to 2-1, but Tommy Guidone’s empty net goal, with Owen Quick getting the assist, with 0:26 seconds left, put the game out of reach as North Haven skated away with a 3-1 victory to improve their record to 3-0 on the season. The game on Dec. 23 against Westhill/Stamford was postponed due to inclement weather and will be made up at a later date. North Haven is off until Saturday, Dec. 31 when they travel up to Avon to take on the Farmington Valley Generals at 11 a.m.
