The North Haven Nighthawks lost their first ever dual meet on Dec. 16 to Notre Dame-West Haven, by a score of 63-18. There were a lot of positives, and the team showed great enthusiasm and energy the entire night.

Winning varsity matches for North Haven were the following wrestlers: Justin Katz by forfeit, Emilio Crocco by pin, Jace Iamunno by pin, Luke Asbury by pin, and A.J. Tomaszewski by pin.

On Dec. 17, the Nighthawks competed in the Guilford Tournament with 15 other teams that included the defending State Open champions Xavier, as well as Newtown and Fairfield Warde, who both finished in the top 3 in their class state tournament.

North Haven was led by Jace Iammuno at 152 lbs. Jace had a great day and finished with a 2-2 record which included a pin and a technical fall. Jace was one match away from placing in the top 6.

Also winning varsity matches for North Haven were Mason Mansur at 113 lbs, Michael Moran at 160 lbs, and Tyler DiMauro at 195 lbs. Also, many of our wrestlers gained invaluable experience through exhibition matches throughout the day.

Coach Tseperkas was very proud of the entire team’s attitude and effort in this difficult tournament.
