Grizzlies Girls’ Ice Hockey off to 2-0 Start
The Grizzlies girls’ ice hockey co-op, consisting of girls from Guilford, East Haven, North Branford and Coginchaug, opened their season on Dec. 7 vs. Greenwich. It was a close contest, resulting in a 2-1 Grizzlies win.
East Haven’s Jordan King recorded a goal for the Grizzlies, assisted by Guilford’s Hailey Farace and Kaila Rosa. East Haven’s Isabella Jackowicz also found the net with a score, assisted by fellow East Haven athlete Julia Crisci, as well as Guilford’s Emma Clifford. Freshman goalie Kadence Epke of Guilford earned her first win of the season, collecting 28 saves on 29 shots.
The girls then headed on the road to take on the Masuk co-op on Dec. 9. In a game that ended 7-5, many girls decorated the scoreboard. Isabella Jackowicz led the scoring for the Grizzlies in the high-scoring affair, punching in three goals and an assist. Julia Crisci recorded a goal and assisted on another, and Emma Clifford had two assists. East Haven’s Jaime Forrest, Guilford’s Kim Evans, and Hailey Farace each found the net for a goal. Guilford’s Olivia Hwang recorded 39 saves on 44 shots in goal.
The Grizzlies will next face West Haven/SHA at home on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 4:15 p.m.
