The North Haven High School Athletic Department is excited to announce the appointment of Joseph Romanelli as the new head coach for the North Haven High School baseball program.

Joe previously coached at Notre Dame-West Haven from 2016 to 2022 and has been the varsity assistant coach for the past 5 years. While coaching at Notre Dame, Joe has also been a coach at the The Grind Baseball Club and Training Facility since 2014. At The Grind, Joe coached ages 9 to 18-years old during summer and fall seasons and worked clinics in the winter. Additionally, Joe has also spent time as a volunteer coach at The University of New Haven in 2013 and at Joseph A. Foran High School in 2014.

Athletic Director Steve Blumenthal stated, “We are very excited to have Coach Romanelli as North Haven’s next baseball coach at North Haven High School. It is not easy to follow in the footsteps of someone who has coached the baseball program for 64 years. But, the committee unanimously felt that Coach Romanelli has the skills and knowledge to set the baseball program on a new path. We have every confidence in Joe to lead North Haven High School Baseball successfully.”

As an athlete, Joe played at University of New Haven from 2008 to 2013. His team won the Northeast-10 championship in 2013 when Joe was a senior captain. Joe was named MVP of that championship run. In 2009 and 2013, Joe was part of teams that made it to the NCAA regionals. In high school, Joe attended Holy Trinity High School in Hicksville, New York.

Joe is the 6-12 Math Coordinator for North Haven Public Schools and currently lives in West Haven with his wife and 2 children.
