11/07/2022 12:37 PMThe East Haven-Wilbur Cross-Hillhouse (EH-WC-H) girls’ swimming and diving team hit the water to compete in the SCC Championship meet that was hosted on the campus of at Southern Connecticut State University on Nov. 3. The Yellowjackets finished in 14th place by scoring 246 points in SCCs. Cheshire took the title with 1,226 points scored at the meet.
Senior Julia Rosado posted a pair of top-five finishes for EH-WC-H at the SCC Championship. Rosado claimed third place in the 100 backstroke by swimming a time of 59.02. Rosado also finished fifth for the 100 butterfly after hitting the finish line with a mark of 1:00.84.
Junior Kate Kim finished in 11th place in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:16.58 for the Yellowjackets at SCCs. Kim also took 22nd place in the 200 individual medley by recording a time of 2:33.16.
Freshman Madeline Bourdeau competed for the Yellowjackets in the 500 freestyle at the conference meet. Bourdeau swam a time of 6:24.36 to finish in 30th place for the 500 freestyle.
EH-WC-H also saw three relays take part in the SCC Championship. The Yellowjackets’ 400 freestyle relay of Bourdeau, Kim, senior Abby Brooks, and Rosado finished in 12th place with a time of 4:10.53.
The Yellowjackets’ 200 medley relay of Brooks, Kim, Rosado, and freshman Diana Melnyk claimed 14th place by recording a time of 2:08.01. The 200 freestyle relay featuring Bourdeau, junior Alexis Lamprea, Brooks, and Melnyk came in 17th place with a time of 2:00.94 on behalf of Head Coach Leanne Boisvert’s team.
The EH-WC-H co-op swim squad will be competing in the Class LL State Championship meet this week. The Class LL State Trials are being held at the Cornerstone Aquatic Center in West Hartford on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. The Class LL Swimming State Championship will take place at Cornerstone Aquatic Center on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m.
