Madison Athletic Hall of Fame Inducts Class of 2022
The Madison Athletic Hall of Fame (MAHOF) successfully inducted its Class of 2022 when the 11 inductees were honored in a ceremony on Sept. 29. The Hall of Fame ceremony was hosted at the Madison Beach Hotel with approximately 140 people in attendance.
The MAHOF Class of 2022 includes Heather Brown, a 1984 Daniel Hand High School (DHHS) graduate who played golf, softball, and field hockey for the Tigers and then went on the serve as a coach with the girls’ golf team; Kristen Conlon Mierzejewski, a 1996 graduate who competed in softball and gymnastics at DHHS; Kevin Dolan, a member of the Class of 1976 who played for the Hand boys’ soccer squad; and Bill Ferguson a 1971 graduate who participated in basketball and track and field.
Other inductees for the MAHOF include Pat Fitzgerald, who served as coach of the Hand girls’ swimming team from the 1970s to the 1990s; Jacob “TJ” Naylor, who competed in football, track and field, wrestling, and basketball at DHHS before graduating in 1999; Rebekah Pite, a 1991 graduate who played for the Hand girls’ soccer and lacrosse teams; and Lawrence “LJ” Spinnato, a 2002 graduate who participated in football, wrestling, and track and field and then went on to coach with the Tigers’ football and wrestling squads.
The other Class of 2022 inductees are Art Symonds, a 1972 graduate of DHHS who was inducted as an exemplary contributor for his efforts with the MAHOF from 2013 to 2022; Mary Jane Telford, a 1971 graduate who played basketball, field hockey, and softball at DHHS and then later became a basketball coach; and Wayne Wielgus, a member of Class of 1972 who competed for the Hand boys’ basketball, soccer, and golf teams.
