H-K Girls’ Soccer Defeats North Branford/Hale-Ray; Boys’ Soccer, Girls’ Volleyball Get Two Wins Apiece

Girls’ Soccer

The Haddam-Killingworth girls’ soccer claimed a victory over the North Branford/Hale-Ray co-op squad in its lone matchup on last week’s schedule. On Oct. 14, the Cougars earned a 6-2 win versus the Thunderbirds to improve their record to 6-4-1 this season.

H-K is hosting Old Saybrook for a contest on Friday, Oct. 21 at 3:45 p.m. After that, the Cougars will hit the road to take on Rockville at 3:45 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24, followed by a home game versus Cromwell on Friday, Oct. 28 at 3:45 p.m.

Boys’ Soccer

The Haddam-Killingworth boys’ soccer team had a busy week with four matchups on its schedule last week. The Cougars came away from the slate with a split to put their overall record at 6-4-1 on the year.

On Oct. 10, H-K took a 2-1 road loss to Cromwell. Then on Oct. 12, the Cougars were back on the road to face St. Paul and won the contest by a 2-1 score. The very next day, H-K hosted North Branford and claimed a 7-0 victory versus the Thunderbirds. In its last game of the week, H-K traveled to Clinton to square off against Morgan and dropped a 1-0 decision to the Huskies.

The Cougars are playing a road game versus Old Saybrook on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. H-K will then be back on the road to face Portland on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m., followed by a home game with Platt for its regular-season finale at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Girls’ Volleyball

The Haddam-Killingworth girls’ volleyball team won two of its three matches last week and is now sporting an overall record of 10-4 on the season. H-K took a recent loss to Coginchaug before scoring victories over North Branford and Old Lyme in last week’s action.

H-K took a 3-1 road loss to Coginchaug on Oct. 11. The following day, the Cougars hit the road to face Old Lyme and defeated the Wildcats by a 3-0 final. H-K wrapped up last week by posting a 3-2 victory versus North Branford in a home match on Oct. 14.

H-K is hosting Hale-Ray on Friday, Oct. 21 at 4:30 p.m. and Morgan on Monday, Oct. 24 at 4:30 p.m. The Cougars will then conclude the regular season with road matches against Ellington at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m. and Hand on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 6 p.m.

Field Hockey

The Haddam-Killingworth field hockey team hit the road to take on the Westbrook-Old Lyme co-op squad for its lone game of the week last week. H-K took a 1-0 overtime loss against the Knights at Westbrook High School and now have an overall record of 4-5-1-1 on the year.

H-K is hosting Wamogo for a contest on Monday, Oct. 24 at 3:45 p.m. The Cougars will then square off against Old Saybrook at home at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Football

The Haddam-Killingworth football team was on the bye week last week. The Cougars will return to the gridiron to play a road game versus divisional opponent North Branford on Friday, Oct. 21 at 6:30 p.m. H-K comes into the game with an overall record of 2-2 to go with a mark of 1-2 in the Pequot Conference Sassacus Division this season. The Thunderbirds enter the contest at 2-3 overall and 1-2 in divisional play.
