The North Haven football team kicked off the 2022 season by hosting Simsbury for its season opener on Sept. 9. The Nighthawks recorded a 49-0 shutout versus Simsbury in a non-conference contest at North Haven Middle School to start the year at 1-0.
North Haven will face Notre Dame-West Haven on the road in a SCC Tier 1 matchup on Friday, Sept. 16. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Veterans Field in West Haven.
Girls’ Volleyball
The North Haven girls’ volleyball team was victorious in its season opener when the Nighthawks played a road match against Sheehan on Sept. 8. North Haven defeated the Titans by a 3-1 final in Wallingford, winning the contest with scores of 25-17, 26-24, 21-25, and 25-17.
Senior Kayla Balisciano recorded 16 kills to go with 8 digs and 3 aces for the Nighthawks in their season-opening victory. Junior Avery Berney had 9 kills and 8 digs, while senior Maren Hill posted 7 kills with 3 digs for Head Coach Brianna Kleckner’s squad.
North Haven is coming off of a season that saw the Nighthawks finish with an overall record of 20-6. North Haven made it to the SCC quarterfinals and then won 3 matches in the Class L State Tournament to advance to the semifinal round.
Field Hockey
The North Haven field hockey squad played a pair of home games to open up the fall season last week. The Nighthawks took a loss to Sheehan and then posted a shutout over Lyman Hall for a 1-1 start to the year.
On Sept. 8, North Haven hosted Sheehan for its season opener and took a 4-1 defeat against the Titans. Two days later, the Nighthawks claimed a 6-0 victory against Lyman Hall in another home game at North Haven Middle School.
Kim Bouffard returns for another year as head coach of the Nighthawks’ field hockey squad. North Haven posted an overall record of 4-9-2-1 last year.
Boys’ Cross Country
The North Haven boys’ cross country team hosted Cheshire, Fairfield Prep, and Foran for a season-opening quad-meet on Sept. 8. The Nighthawks came away with one win by defeating Fairfield Prep (23-42) to go with losses against Foran (27-28) and Cheshire (16-45) at the meet. Junior Nico Boyle finished in fifth place by crossing the finish line with a time of 18:11 for Head Coach Carl Jackson’s squad.
Girls’ Cross Country
The North Haven girls’ cross country team began its season by hosting three teams for a quad-meet at Wharton Brook State Park last week. North Haven notched a 21-34 win over Lauralton Hall and also took losses against Foran (18-40) and Cheshire (15-50) in the matchup on Sept. 8. Carl Jackson is back for another season as the head coach of the Nighthawks.
Boys’ Soccer
The North Haven boys’ soccer team began the 2022 season by hosting Shelton in its season opener on Sept. 10. The Nighthawks took a 5-0 loss to the Gaels at North Haven Middle School to open the season at 0-1.
John Parisella is back for his second season as head coach of the North Haven boys’ soccer team. The Nighthawks finished with an overall record of 4-9-1 for the 2021 campaign.
