North Haven Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Oct. 16
In an event that’s two years in the making, the North Haven High School (NHHS) Sports Hall of Fame is getting set to induct the members of its Class of 2020. The induction ceremony had been scheduled to take place on March 28, 2020, but was canceled one week prior due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremony will now be held as a brunch at the Wallingford Country Club on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 11 a.m.
The inductees for the NHHS Sports Hall of Fame’s Class of 2020 include Chris Conte, a 1979 graduate who played baseball and soccer for North Haven before continuing his soccer career at Brown University; Marino Crocco, a 2006 graduate who competed for the North Haven boys’ soccer team and then played soccer at the University of New Haven; and Jennifer Cruver, who played softball and basketball for North Haven before graduating in 2009 and then played softball at Salve Regina University.
The other inductees who will be recognized at the upcoming ceremony include Thomas Drury, a 1969 graduate who played football and baseball at North Haven; Marilyn Gillo, who is receiving the Service Award for her 25-year career working in the NHHS Athletic Department; Marian Rockwell, a member of the Class of 1971 who competed in gymnastics and outdoor track for North Haven before continuing with gymnastics at the University of Massachusetts; and Jennie Setaro, a 1996 graduate who played field hockey and golf at North Haven and then competed for the women’s ice hockey team at Northeastern University.
