East Haddam-Guilford 12-U Softball Takes Losses in State’s Final Four
After recently winning District 9 and Section 3 titles, the East Haddam-Guilford (EH-G) 12-U All-Stars Little League Majors softball team competed in the state’s Final Four Tournament in Bristol last week. EH-G took losses against Preston-Jewett City (P-JC) and Wallingford in the Final Four and saw its postseason run come to an end with the two defeats.
EH-G started off Connecticut’s Final Four for 12-U All-Stars softball by facing P-JC on July 13. EH-G took a 4-2 defeat in the contest at Greenleaf Park.
The next day, Head Coach Erik Jankowski’s team faced Wallingford in an elimination game for both squads at Rockwell Park. EH-G lost to Wallingford by the score of 6-5 and was eliminated from the tournament.
The EH-G 12-U All-Stars softball team had advanced to the state’s Final Four by winning both the District 9 Tournament and the Section 3 Tournament this summer. EH-G claimed the District 9 title by posting a 7-0 shutout over Middletown/Haddam-Killingworth in the deciding game of a best-of-3 championship series. EH-G went on to win the Section 3 Tournament with a 9-8 victory versus Rocky Hill in the title game, rallying for the victory after being down to its final strike.
The players on the EH-G 12-U All-Stars softball team are Guilford residents Delphine Barbera, Katherine Eaton, Ava Gentile, Taylor Ketchum, Sarah O’Brien, and Hannah Prior; in addition to East Haddam residents Layla Adams, Laurel Beisel, Avery Campbell, Briella Dean, Fenway Jankowski, Autumn Landry, Makaylee Martin, and Olivia Varni.
Head Coach Erik Coach Jankowski, an East Haddam resident, is joined on his coaching staff by Guilford residents Chad Eaton and Joe Gentile, along with Peter Dean of East Haddam.
