Police Incident Report for Aug. 15 to Sept. 18
The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.
Thursday, Aug. 15
• A 28 year-old man of New York, New York was arrested at 5:30 a.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree. In the same incident a 42 year-old man of Yonkers, New York was arrested and charged with the same.
• A complaint about counterfeiting was investigated at 1919 Boston Post Road at 10:42 a.m. Someone paid for a haircut with a counterfeit $100 bill.
• A fatal motor vehicle crash was reported at 11:59 a.m. The location and all details of the crash were redacted by police.
Friday, Aug. 16
No arrests were made.
• A breach of peace incident was investigated at 617 Boston Post Road at 3:32 p.m. A pedestrian reported that a white male in his 30s was operating a silver Volkswagen bearing Connecticut plate AH033058 when the driver confronted him in the McDonald’s parking lot after almost clipping him when he pulled into the lot from Boston Post Road. The complainant did not wish to speak with an officer, he wanted only to report the incident.

• A complaint about a barking dog was reported on the 400 block of Mulberry Point Road at 6:55 a.m. The complaint was withdrawn by the complainant before police were dispatched.
• A complaint about a small snake in a garage was reported at 659 Tanner Marsh Road at 11:59 a.m. The snake was exterminated and removed from the property.
• A complaint about two dogs roaming in the neighborhood was investigated on Wilderwood Drive at 12:41 p.m.
Monday, Aug. 19
• A 42 year-old Branford man was arrested at 6:20 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Tuesday, Aug. 20
• A 72 year-old man of Durham Road was arrested at 10:40 p.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• A complaint about identity fraud was investigated at 116 River Street at 10:06 a.m. The complainant had unauthorized rental car charges.
• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1362 Little Meadow Road at 11:25 a.m. Names were carved in trees.
• Neighbor trouble involving an ongoing issued was investigated on North Street at 2:59 p.m.

• A non-fatal motor vehicle crash was investigated on Sunset Circle at 6:52 a.m.
• Criminal mischief was investigated at 2811 Long Hill Road at 12:19 p.m. A mailbox was smashed during the overnight hours.
Friday, Aug. 23
No arrests were made.
• A noise complaint was investigated the on the 200 block of South Union Street at 6:16 a.m. A paving crew was paving the Calvin Leete Elementary School parking lot. The crew manager said they would wait until 7 a.m. to restart paving to abide by the town sound ordinance.
• A report of a wild turkey being struck by a vehicle in front of 100 Goose Lane was filed at 7:14 a.m. The complainant was not sure if the turkey was still alive.
• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 321 East River Road at 4:02 p.m.

No arrests were made.
• An animal complaint was investigated at 120 North Mill Circle at 9:27 a.m. The complainant observed a goose with a fishing lure stuck in its foot. The investigating officer spoke with the complainant’s mother who advised that it was a known issue, the goose was doing fine, and the bird would not let anyone near it to remove the lure.
• Criminal mischief was investigated at 9:45 a.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.
• A complaint about Internet fraud was invested at 1:18 p.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.
• The theft of a motor vehicle was investigated at 65 Whitfield Street at 5:28 p.m. Police learned the vehicle was not stolen, just misplaced.
• A breach of peace incident was investigated at 10:54 p.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.

• A complaint about identity theft was investigated at 2050 Long Hill Road at 11:34 a.m.

• A sex offense/possession of child pornography incident was investigated at 11:13 a.m. The location and all details of the investigation were redacted by police.
• Threatening was investigated on the 100 block of Goose Lane at 7:23 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 29
• A 21 Bridgeport man and a 22 year-old man of unknown address were arrested at 10:30 a.m. Each party was charged with burglary in the third degree, conspiracy to commit burglary in the third degree, criminal trespass in the second degree, conspiracy to commit criminal trespass in the second degree, criminal mischief in the second degree, conspiracy to commit criminal mischief in the second degree, and conspiracy to commit robbery in the third degree.
• A 37 year-old Wallingford man was arrested at 8:16 p.m. and charged with larceny in the fourth degree and criminal trespass in the first degree.
• A complaint about a Jeep that was tailgating and going the wrong way on a one-way portion of road was investigated on South Hoop Pole Road at 4:02 p.m.
• A complaint about possible risk of injury was investigated on Water Street at 4:17 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 31
• A 44 year-old man and a 54 year-old man, both of the same Saw Pit Road address, were arrested at 11:32 a.m. Each party was charged with disorderly conduct under the Domestic Violence Act. In the same incident, a 77 year-old man of the same address was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and threatening in the second degree.
• Criminal mischief was investigated at 11:56 p.m. The location and all details were redacted by police.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1 Riverside Court at 11:56 p.m. A car window was broken.
• A complaint about gunfire noise emanating from the New Haven Sportsman Club at 4158 Durham Road was investigated at 5:54 p.m. Police spoke with a member who was exiting the range. He stated that he lost track of the time. No one else was at the range. He was aware that he was supposed to stop shooting at 5 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 3
• A 19 year-old woman and an 18 year-old woman, both of Branford, were arrested at 3 p.m. Each party was charged with possession of alcohol by a person under the legal age, possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis, use or possession of drug paraphernalia containing less than one-half ounce of cannabis, criminal mischief in the first degree, conspiracy to commit criminal mischief in the second degree, three counts of conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree, four counts of burglary in the third degree, four counts of conspiracy to commit burglary in the third degree, four counts of criminal mischief in the second degree, and four counts of conspiracy to commit criminal mischief in the second degree. The arrest took place at 140 Seaside Avenue.
• A burglary was investigated at 379 Whitfield Street at 11:49 a.m.
• A complaint about three males walking on trails in the woods while smoking marijuana was investigated on Maupas Road at 3:44 p.m.
• Criminal mischief was investigated at 379 Whitfield Street at 7:26 p.m.

• A vehicle repossession took place at 643 North Madison Road via Collateral Recovery Services at 4:23 a.m.
• Harassment via a scam call was investigated at 212 Valley Shore Drive at 11:04 a.m.
• A larceny was investigated at 996 Boston Post Road at 12:02 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 5
• A 70 year-old man of Schoolside Lane was arrested at 5:37 p.m. and charged with disorderly conduct.
• A sick cat was reported in a driveway at 36 Blackfoot Court at 7:05 a.m. The animal officer could not locate the cat.
• A domestic dispute was investigated at 9:16 a.m. The location and all details of the incident were redacted by police.
• A sick raccoon was reported at 1414 Great Hill Road at 8:58 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 6
No arrests were made.
• A complaint about a speeding red ATV on West Lake Avenue was investigated at 9:45 a.m. The complainant followed the ATV to 337 New England Road. The operator was wearing dark clothes and a full-face helmet. The complainant reported that this was an ongoing issue.
• Harassment via telephone was reported at 15 South Fair Street at 1:28 p.m. The complainant received a call from 860-596-7713 in which the caller posed as a U.S. marshal and demanded money.

No arrests were made.
• The theft of a vehicle was reported at 9 Boston Street at 2:29 p.m. Police learned that the owner forgot where the car was parked; it was not stolen.
• A report of a deceased yellow Lab in an open field was investigated at 260 River Street at 2:33 p.m. Police learned that a coyote decoy had fallen over. There was no dead dog.

No arrests were made.
• Neighbor trouble was reported at 6 Potter Hill Drive at 4:27 p.m. A caller reported that his neighbor removed a surveying stake from his property.
Monday, Sept. 9
• A 30 year-old Waterbury man was arrested at 12:17 p.m. and charged with two counts of larceny in the fourth degree.
• A 55 year-old woman of Whitfield Street was arrested at 10:30 p.m. and charged with possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis.
Tuesday, Sept. 10
• A 34 year-old man and a 58 year-old man, of the same Grey Ledge Drive residence, were arrested at 10:34 p.m. Each party was charged with violation of probation.
• A larceny of tools from a job site was investigated at 46 Clear Lake Road at 2:59 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 11
• A 51 year-old East Haven man was arrested at 7:08 p.m. and charged with larceny in the second degree, four counts of violation of home contract requirements, and four counts of failure to place proper notices in home contractor sales agreements.
Thursday, Sept. 12
• A 24 year-old man of Bronx, New York was arrested at 1:37 a.m. on a warrant charging him with failure to appear in the first degree.
• A larceny was investigated at 112 State Street at 10:25 a.m.
• Lost property was reported on 594 Boston Post Road and turned over to police. A man found a credit card and a driver’s license in the roadway.
• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 109 Dunk Rock Road at 2:03 p.m. An account was opened illegally using the complainant’s social security number.
• An anonymous caller reported that a small black garbage truck was dropping trash from the rear. The truck had the name “Dejana Equipment” and the phone number “877-335-2621” printed on the side. Police could not locate the suspect vehicle.
• Suspicious activity was reported at 90 Fair Street at 4:05 p.m. A man was taking pictures in front of the Women & Family Life Center. He was driving a dark colored BMW with out-of-state license plates. Police checked the plate, which was clear and valid; the car was legally parked.
• A complaint about a white male handing out gang stalking cards was investigated on Seaside Avenue at 3 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 13
• A 36 year-old man of South Hoop Pole Road was arrested at 1:30 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree, threatening in the second degree, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, improper use of marker plate, and disobeying the signal of an officer.
• A larceny was investigated at 350 Stepstone Hill Road at 6:42 p.m. The complainant believed her wallet and cell phone were stolen while she was inside a liquor store. The complainant later located her wallet and phone in her garage.
Saturday, Sept. 14 to Sunday, Sept. 15
No arrests were made.
Monday, Sept. 16
• A report of a female crying behind Walmart was investigated at 830 Boston Post Road at 10:33 a.m.
• A complaint about a tent in Timberlands preserve was investigated on North Madison Road at 11:14 a.m.
• A complaint about fraud was investigated at 28 Turtle Lane at 12:52 p.m. Multiple accounts were opened in the complainant’s name.
• Breach of peace was investigated on Hoadley Creek Circle at 2:10 p.m.
• A complaint about a man who let his dog off a leash to run in a park field was investigated on the 800 block of Long Hill Road at 3:47 p.m. When a town employee told the man that there is a leash law, the man said he did not care. When police spoke to him about this ongoing issue, he stated that he takes his dogs to the park and lets them off the lease when no one is at the park. The officers advised the man of the leash law. The man stated for the officer that he understood.
• Harassment was investigated on the 300 block of Whitfield Street at 7:56 p.m.
• A report of a suspicious person was investigated at 1350 Durham Road at 10:21 p.m. A homeless man stated he was trying to get to Mississippi. He was clear of any warrants.
Tuesday, Sept. 17
No arrests were made.
• Disorderly conduct was investigated at 65 Whitfield Street at 8:21 p.m. A group of 10 attempted to leave the restaurant without paying. Five police officers responded to the call.
Wednesday. Sept. 18
• A 23 year-old woman of South Union Street was arrested at 1:11 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
