Police Incident Report for June 12 to July 2
The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.
Essex
Wednesday, June 12
No arrests were made.
• A 44 year-old Old Lyme man was issued a citation at 12:03 p.m. for failure to maintain a reasonable distance apart. He was operating a 2015 Ford Transit northbound on Route 153 when he struck the rear of a 2010 Buick Lacrosse operated by a 75 year-old Middletown woman who was stopped at the intersection of Mares Hill Road to make a left turn. The cited driver reported that he was not injured. The operator of the struck vehicle complained of left shoulder pain but refused a request to have an ambulance respond. A family member arrived at the scene to give her a ride to the Middlesex area clinic.

Friday, June 14
• A 57 year-old man of Main Street in Ivoryton was arrested at 2:27 a.m. and charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the second degree. He was processed on a $25,000 surety bond. The alleged victim in the case was a 41 year-old Ivoryton woman.
Saturday, June 15 to Friday, June 21
No arrests were made.
Saturday, June 22
• A 24 year-old man of Comstock Avenue in Ivoryton was arrested at 3:23 p.m. and charged with reckless driving, carrying a dangerous weapon, breach of peace in the second degree, criminal attempt to commit assault in the first degree, three counts of threatening in the second degree, and three counts of reckless endangerment in the first degree. He was processed on a $25,000 surety bond.

Tuesday, June 25
No arrests were made.
• Two arrests were made under the Domestic Violence Act on Charles Street at 9:08 p.m. Troopers responded to the call of an active disturbance and found a couple arguing. The couple was in the process of a divorce. Probable cause existed in the case to arrest both parties, ages 33 and 34. The 34 year-old was charged with disorderly conduct and assault in the third degree. The 34 year-old was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal mischief in the third degree.

Saturday, June 29
• A 65 year-old man of New York, New York was arrested at 6:54 a.m. and charged with criminal trespass in the first degree. He was processed on a $75,000 bond amount.

Deep River
Wednesday, June 12
No arrests were made.
• A two-vehicle crash was investigated on Warsaw Street at 6:42 a.m. A 71 year-old woman of Stanwoll Hill Road was operating a 2018 Volkswagen GTI from Stanwoll Hill Road onto Warsaw Street northbound when she was struck by an oncoming 2002 Chevrolet S10 operated by a 37 year-old Westbrook woman who could not stop in time. No enforcement action was indicated in the police press report. No one was injured in the crash and both vehicles were driven from the scene.
• A two-vehicle crash was investigated on Elm Street at 10:29 a.m. An 83 year-old Moodus man was operating a 2015 Toyota Camry westbound on Elm Street when he crossed into the eastbound lane while rounding a corner a struck a 2017 Ford F150 Supercrew pick-up truck operated by a 21 year-old Stamford man. Both drivers sustained injuries in the crash and the operator of the pick-up truck was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital.

Thursday, June 20
• A 37 year-old Bridgeport man was arrested at 4:13 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree and assault in the third degree. The arrest was made in the area of the baseball field on Southworth Street following the report of two people fighting. The accused struck his boss in the face with his right fist because he was angry of the fact that he did not receive his paycheck.
Friday, June 21
• A 24 year-old Waterford woman was arrested at 1:48 a.m. and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway following a motor vehicle crash on Main Street near Village Street.

Friday, June 28
• A 74 year-old man of Bushy Hill Road was arrested at 2:28 p.m. and charged with breach of beach in the second degree.
Saturday, June 29
No arrests were made.
• The theft of a license plate was investigated at 148 Main Street at 5:46 p.m. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Trooper Trainee Angello Balbuena at 860-399-2100.

Chester
Wednesday, June 12
• A 59 year-old Moodus man was arrested at 10:07 a.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree and possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis.
Thursday, June 13
No arrests were made.
• A 60 year-old Amston man was issued a citation at 5:43 p.m. for failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple-lane highway. He was operating a 2000 Ford Windstar SE when he veered the vehicle to the right off the roadway and struck a metal-wire guardrail, continued into the grassy area, struck a large rock, and rolled over. The operator, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for medical evaluation.

Monday, June 24
• A 31 year-old Clinton man was arrested at 10:52 a.m. and charged with sexual assault in the fourth degree. He was processed on a $10,000 surety bond.

• A 26 year-old Middlefield woman was issued a citation at 7:08 a.m. for failure to grant right of way at an intersection. She was operating a 2010 Nissan Altima 2.5 southbound on Route 154 when she collided with a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 operated by a 64 year-old man of Middlesex Avenue. A third vehicle was also involved; a 2006 Honda Ridgeline operated by a 64 year-old Waterbury man. The cited driver complained of chest pain and was transported to Middlesex Hospital for evaluation.
