The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

Thursday, April 19

• A 36 year-old Derby man was arrested at 9 a.m. and charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary in the third degree and criminal attempt to commit criminal mischief in the second degree.

• A 50 year-old East Haven man was arrested at 10 p.m. and charged with three counts of criminal violation of a restraining order and one count of illegal dissemination of an intimate image.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 27 Moose Hill Road at 8:57 a.m. A mailbox was knocked over and the post pulled out of the ground.

• A vehicle repossession was conducted at 95 Dohm Avenue at 12:46 p.m.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1139 Boston Post Road at 2:17 p.m.

• Erratic operation of a motor vehicle headed southbound on the 400 block of Durham Road was reported at 3:16 p.m. A vehicle was described as a black Mercedes C240.

• A possible breach of peace incident was reported on Whitfield Street at 6:29 p.m. Police could not locate the offending party/ies.

• A burglary attempt was reported at 80 Deer Lane at 9:24 p.m.

Friday, April 20

• A 25 year-old of Mount Ephraim, New Jersey was arrested at 3:30 p.m. and charged with larceny in the third degree, organized retail theft in an amount less than $10,000, conspiracy to commit larceny in the third degree, criminal attempt to commit larceny in the sixth degree, and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. In the same incident a 31 year-old man of Camden, New Jersey was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit larceny in the third and sixth degrees, organized retail theft less than $10,000, and operating a motor vehicle without a motor vehicle license.

• A larceny was investigated at 580 Goose Lane at 10:12 a.m. An unlocked vehicle was entered and sunglasses were taken.

• Larcenies were investigated at 86 Nut Plains Road at 12:06 p.m. and 1 Potter Hill Drive at 1:52 p.m. Unlocked vehicles were entered during the overnight hours and items taken.

• A complaint about a salesman from Comcast coming to the same home multiple times was reported at 63 Laurel Brook Drive at 6:44 p.m. The Comcast worker was driving a silver or tan two-door Audi.

Saturday, April 21

• A 19 year-old Newington man was arrested at 12:55 p.m. and charged with possession of greater than one-half ounce of cannabis.

• A larceny was investigated at 683 Riches Way at 1:25 p.m. An unlocked vehicle was entered and the vehicle key was taken.

• A report of a vehicle being operated erratically on Boston Street from the Green to Goose Lane was reported at 10:25 p.m. The suspect vehicle had no head lights or devices illuminated. The complainant followed the vehicle until police could initiate a stop after the suspect vehicle entered Interstate 95 northbound. During the traffic stop police stated that the driver (a male) was known to them and passed a standardized field sobriety test. Police suspected that man was on medication and his license was confiscated by police and the vehicle towed. State police also arrived at the scene to assist.

Sunday, April 22

No arrests were made.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 1600 Great Hill Road at 12:57 a.m. Mailboxes were knocked into the street.

• A complaint about teen drivers doing wheelies in the roadway on quads was investigated at 4:38 p.m. Police could not locate the offenders.

Monday, April 23

No arrests were made.

Tuesday, April 24

No arrests were made.

• Harassment was investigated on Whitfield Street at 1:32 p.m.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 200 block of Wilderwood Drive at 1:41 p.m.

Wednesday, April 25

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about fraud with a credit card was investigated at 30 Whispering Woods Road at 6:14 p.m.

Thursday, April 26

• A 56 year-old man of High Meadow Road was arrested at 7:20 p.m. and charged with breach of peace in the second degree, assault in the second degree, assault in the third degree, threatening in the second degree, and disorderly conduct.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 1400 block of Boston Post Road at 10:08 a.m.

Friday, April 27

No arrests were made.

• A larceny was investigated at 2500 Boston Post Road at 8:28 a.m. A red and white plastic sandwich board was stolen from the Dr. Herren Family Chiropractic Center.

• Criminal mischief was investigated at 140 Lakeside Drive at 11:29 a.m. A mailbox was smashed.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 3300 block of Durham Road at 10:03 p.m.

Saturday, April 28

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about loud music was investigated on the 300 block of South Union Street at 4:59 p.m. Police spoke with the person setting up an event, who advised that he was testing sound equipment for an event to be conducted between 6 and 11 p.m. The doors to the hall were open during the tests. Police told the person to make sure the noise does not get too loud and to keep the doors closed to avoid further complaints. More complaints about the event noise were made around 9 p.m. Police reported that the doors and windows to the hall were closed this time and that the noise was not excessive.

Sunday, April 29

No arrests were made.

• A complaint about identity fraud was investigated at 157 Tupelo Lane at 1:37 p.m. A cell phone account was opened in the complainant’s name.

• A burglary was investigated at 31 Lake Drive at 5:02 p.m.

Monday, April 30

No arrests were made.

• Suspicious activity was investigated at 299 Woodland Road at 4:03 p.m. A package with white powder in a bag arrived from China.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on Summer Street at 9:05 p.m.

Tuesday, May 1

No arrests were made.

• A breach of peace incident was investigated below the 100 block of Church Street at 11:14 a.m.

Wednesday, May 2

No arrests were made.

• Harassment was investigated on the 500 block of Whitfield Street at 8:32 a.m. The male complainant was on a date with a female the prior Friday at Guilford Moorings when another female allegedly texted false statements and he felt harassed. He wanted the incident documented.

• A welfare check was made on Cornwall Lane at 9:19 a.m. A complainant reported that a woman was parked close to a school bus stop while kids were waiting for the bus. The woman reportedly acted strange, asked the complainant if there was no school, and said that she was going for a walk in the neighborhood. She walked a short distance and then returned to the vehicle, drove around the corner, stopped for some time, and then proceeded to Route 77 northbound. The complainant went to police headquarters to report the incident. Police traced the vehicle to its registered owner, who has a history of walking in the area and being reported by residents as a suspicious person.

• A domestic dispute was investigated on the 200 block of Shore Drive at 8:56 p.m.
