Essex Police Incident Report for July 23 to 29


The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content. 

Wednesday, July 23

No arrests were made and no incidents were reported.

Thursday, July 24

• A 79 year-old man of Melody Lane in Ivoryton was arrested at 1:40 a.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs following the report of a man sleeping in a vehicle that was stopped within the intersection of Westbrook and Bokum Road. The accused failed a standardized field sobriety test and processed on a $2,500 surety bond amount.
