• During the initial Black Friday shopping rush at the Clinton Crossing Outlet Center, Clinton police officers actively enforced handicapped parking regulations from 10 p.m. through 3 a.m. the following morning. The enforcement effort was based on experience from previous years, during which officers caught several young shoppers misusing the placards of elderly persons who were not present. Thirteen citations were issued during this year’s five hour sweep. In some instances officers remained at the larger banks of handicapped spaces and turned away additional would-be violators who pulled in to park despite not having valid placards. Those invalid placards were seized. In previous years violators completely filled the available spaces and had to be towed. This year towing was avoided by posting officers to witness some of the violations as they occurred.

The homeowner was transported to the hospital via ambulance for treatment of moderate face and head injuries.
