Guilford Police Incident Report for Aug. 2 and 3


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for length and content.

Thursday, Aug. 2

• A 43 year-old Branford resident was charged with criminal attempt and obtaining a controlled drug with a forged prescription.

• Police assisted Amtrak police with a report of an unattended bag on the south side of the train platform, 300 Old Whitfield St., 8:12 a.m.

• Miscellaneous theft, person reports a watch left at a State Street location was gone.

• An officer shot a groundhog after responding to an animal nuisance report of a sick or injured animal, Driftwood Lane, 1:21 p.m.

• A sick or injured skunk was reported on Sheep Pasture Road, 1:58 p.m.

• A roaming dog harassing customers was reported as an on-going problem at Wendy’s Restaurant, 570 Boston Post Road.

• An orange kayak was reported adrift in the East River, seen from Tanner Marsh Road, 3:59 p.m. Nothing was located by police.

• Family dispute, Moose Hill Road, 4:32 p.m.

• Criminal mischief, car window broken while parked during the day outside Guilford Day Care Center, 47 Stone House Lane.

Friday, Aug. 3

• No arrests were made.

• Neighbor trouble, metal pipe removed from property line, not an official boundary marker; Bittersweet Circle.

• Attempted burglary, forced damage to window found on Aug. 1, Uncas Point Road.

• Burglary, trailer outside Wal*Mart broken into overnight, items taken, 900 Boston Post Road.

• Suspicious person, male hiding in bushes near Lake Drive, was on caller’s property earlier; 10:09 p.m.
