Guilford Police Incident Report for Nov. 16

The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for length and content.Wednesday, Nov. 16From Nov. 10 through Nov. 16, Guilford Police Department received 243 calls for service. Police made nine arrests, investigated 20 motor vehicle accidents, issued 22 infractions, 50 written warnings and 10 verbal warnings. • A 19 year-old Boulder Road resident was charged with simple trespass, third-degree criminal trespass, second-degree false statement and three counts  of conspiracy.

• A 31 year-old Shore Drive resident was charged with evading responsibility, failure to drive upon right, illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension and failure to return license and or registration.

• A 48 year-old Branford resident was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs or both.

• As reported at www.zip06.com/guilford, police responded to an 8:32 a.m. report from a caller who saw a suspicious item wrapped in cloth in a pond behind her home. The pond is located in a condominium complex at 274 Church St. Police and fire department personnel located and retrieved the body of the 63 year-old woman found in the water. Subsequent examination by the state medical examiner’s office confirmed the cause of death as drowning. As of press time, the incident was considered accidental and not of a suspicious nature. The woman was a resident of the condominium complex. Police notified her family before releasing her name to the press.

• Police assisted a person with blood pressure problems, reportedly complaining of chest pains after growing angry with an issue involving Comcast, Mulberry Point Road, 3:01 a.m.

• A motor vehicle accident involving a car and a school transportation van was reported on Route 80, 1500 block, 8:59 a.m. No students were in the van at the time.

• A wandering dog with a broken back leg was reported at a Quidnet Court address, 3:30 p.m. The caller reported he’d fed the dog and it had remained close by since then.
