Guilford Police Incident Report for May 10


The Guilford Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in town. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for length and content.Tuesday, May 10From May 5 through May 11 the Guilford Police Department received 225 calls for service. Police made five arrests, investigated 10 motor vehicle accidents, issued 10 infractions, 34 written warnings and two verbal warnings. Police made six child safety seat installations. • A 30 year-old Madison resident was charged with sixth-degree larceny, after police responded to a report of a shoplifting in progress, suspect possibly stealing a camera, Wal*Mart, 900 Boston Post Road, 7:24 p.m.

• A vehicle which almost struck a youth in a drop off zone was reported at Guilford High School, 605 New England Road, 8:37 a.m. Police were given the vehicle’s license plate number.

• Young men going door to door selling items were reported for peddling without a permit, Three Corners Road, 5:14 p.m.

• A person bitten by a dog was reported on Orchard View Road, 8:06 p.m.

Wednesday, May 11

• A 25 year-old Branford resident was charged on a warrant with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree larceny.

•  A 49 year-old Nortontown Road resident was charged with disorderly conduct, threatening, second-degree reckless endangerment and third-degree criminal mischief, after police responded to a report of a family dispute at his home, 4:26 p.m.

• Theft, landscape plants taken overnight, Lake Drive.

• A minor in possession of tobacco was reported by an administrator at Guilford High School, 605 New England Road, 9:44 a.m.

• Police received a late report of a shoplifting incident at Big Y, 830 Boston Post Road.

• A resident reported receiving harassing phone calls from a person known to her.

• A caller reported his dog, a beagle, had jumped from his vehicle near Long Hill Farm, 7:41 p.m.

• Family dispute, late report of incident occurring about two weeks earlier, Nortontown Road.
