Branford Police Incident Report for Aug. 3
The Sound publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in Branford and North Branford. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content. Tuesday, Aug. 3
• A 27 year-old Fairfield man was arrested at 10:30 a.m. and charged with larceny in the third degree.
• A 19 year-old New Haven woman was arrested at 1:40 p.m. and charged with larceny in the sixth degree.
• A 25 year-old New Haven man was arrested at 6:20 p.m. and charged with risk of injury to a minor, failure to properly retrain a child in a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct, assault in the third degree, and reckless endangerment in the second degree.
• A 44 year-old West Haven woman was arrested at 7 p.m. and charged with failure to appear in the first and second degrees.
• A 22 year-old man of Hopson Avenue was arrested at 8:58 p.m. and charged with risk of injury to a minor and breach of peace.
• A 31 year-old man of a North Ivy Street apartment was arrested at 10:30 p.m. and charged with failure to appear in the second degree.
• Police and firefighters responded to the report of smoke coming from a house a 36 Milo Drive at 2:25 p.m. The main body of the fire was over the garage area. The fire was under control by 2:55 p.m. A resident was home at the time taking a shower when a smoke detector sounded. He disconnected the fire detector believing the trigger to be a false alarm. When a second unit was also triggered the man exited the dwelling to find smoking billowing from the attic.
