Essex Police Incident Report July 7 to 9
The Valley Courier publishes a Police Incident Report to inform residents of incidents, criminal activities, and police responses occurring in the towns of Essex, Deep River, and Chester. As those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty, the report does not include names. It may be edited for space and content.

• No arrests were made.
• At 12:59 a.m. Trooper Matthew Ewing reported that a 28 year-old man of Blackstone, Massachusetts lost a tire tread in the roadway and a 2007 Porsche Carrara operated by a 25 year-old man of Primrose Ledge struck that tire tread. No injuries were reported at the scene and no enforcement action was indicated.
• No arrests were made and no significant incidents were reported.
• A 30 year-old Old Saybrook man was arrested at 11:16 p.m. and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain the proper lane of a multiple lane highway after he was observed to be operating erratically, stopped, and subsequently failed a standardized field sobriety test. He was processed and released on a non-surety bond pending an unspecified court date.
