As a former Branford Community Foundation (BCF) board member, treasurer, and current BCF ambassador, Logan Reed’s firm belief in supporting the mission of BCF has hit a virtual hole-in-one with the resounding support he’s garnering for the first-ever Charity Golf Tournament to benefit BCF. The tourney is being presented by his new wealth management company, Thimble Island Private Wealth.

Tournament play tickets have already sold out, but there are still tickets available for the tourney’s 5 p.m. dinner and silent auction (featuring UConn men’s and women’s basketball game tickets, Quinnipiac ice hockey tickets, tickets to two different Broadway shows, several donations from locally owned businesses, and more). The tournament and dinner are set for Monday, Oct. 7, at Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club, 2 Club Parkway, Branford.

As the event presenter, Thimble Island Private Wealth is able to ensure that every dollar raised goes directly to BCF, Logan adds.

“We’re hoping they will see some excellent fundraising coming in, outside of regular fundraising programs such as the year-end annual appeal,” says Logan.

BCF Executive Director Liza Petra praised Logan for his remarkable and enthusiastic work to launch this new tourney on behalf of BCF.

“We are honored that Thimble Island Private Wealth came forward with this fun way to support BCF,” Petra said. “The funds raised through this event will support our operational strength, ensuring we can continue to meet the needs of the Branford Community through our dedicated part-time staff and the tools and resources needed to accomplish our mission.”

Logan is Managing Director of Thimble Island Private Wealth, which launched in May 2024 and is based in New Haven. As noted on the company website (thimblepw.com), over the course of his career, Logan has been recognized for his financial acumen and client-centric approach, landing on a number of top performer lists including Forbes “Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors” in 2018, 2019, 2022, and 2023; and Forbes “Best-In-State Wealth Advisors” in 2023 and 2024. Prior to launching Thimble Island Private Wealth, he served as executive vice president of wealth management and was a member of both Janney’s Financial Advisory Council and Financial Planning Committee.

Thimble Island Private Wealth’s experienced team also includes Director James English III, Vice President Michael Allegra Jr., Vice President Mathew Fleming, and Client Service Manager Daniel Kikosicki.

“We work with many local families, businesses, and nonprofits in helping to provide financial planning and investment advisory services,” says Logan. “Our thinking, in the genesis of this event, was that we wanted an opportunity to give back to the community, and to put a spotlight on the work of the Branford Community Foundation.”

A life-long Branford resident, Logan’s volunteer community participation has extended beyond his support of BCF. He is a past director of the Branford Rotary and has volunteered as a member of the finance committee for St. Therese Church and the Professional Advisory Board of the Greater New Haven Community Foundation.

As a BCF ambassador, one of Logan’s goals is to help make others more aware of the support the Branford community receives through the many programs, grants, scholarships, and other funding contributions shepherded by BCF.

“The Branford Community Foundation now provides over $150,000 in annual support across a variety of organizations and scholarships,” he points out.

BCF was founded in 1980 as a public charitable organization with the long-term mission of enhancing the Branford community’s quality of life. BCF maintains and administers funds for multiple donors through permanent endowment fund investment income. The income supports grants, scholarships, sponsorship awards, and other community investments.

At Thimble Island Private Wealth, “...one of the things we do on the investment management side is helping people through those various stages of where they are in their lives in planning,” Logan explains.

Financial literacy is a key passion for the group, as well, he adds.

“A lot of times, there’s a big gap when it comes to financial literacy, so one of the things we’re super excited about is starting a scholarship fund through the Branford Community Foundation, which ultimately, on an annual basis, will designate funds to someone interested in pursuing a career in financial and economic markets.”

Finding opportunities to support his community through BCF is something that’s also close to Logan’s heart for another reason.

“David Etzel, one of the founding members of the Branford Community Foundation, is my mentor,” says Logan. “I had the privilege of working with David for many years, and to be able to give back and follow his stewardship within the community is something that’s really important to me.”

Thimble Island Private Wealth presents the BCF Charity Golf Tournament on Monday, Oct. 7, at Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club, 2 Club Parkway. Dinner-only tickets, $100, can be purchased at branfordcommunityfoundation.org.
