Aileen Wanda Alfano
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Aileen Wanda Alfano of Branford, who peacefully left us on Nov. 5, 2024. She was a cherished matriarch whose love, wisdom, and strength touched the lives of all who knew her. The wife of the late Peter J. Alfano. Mrs. Alfano was born Dec. 2, 1922, in Junction City, Kansas, a daughter of the late Warren and Anna Heidel Lathrop. She was a retired CNA, having worked for many years for the Visiting Nurses Association in Branford.
She is survived by her children, Angela (Edward) Goldsmith of Branford, Peter (Carol) Alfano of Branford, Paul Alfano of Arlington, Texas, and Annette (Robert) Spillane of West Hartford. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter, Andrea Hoffman; her sister, Della Oglesby; and her brothers, Robert and William Lathrop.
As a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she leaves behind a family that will forever treasure the lessons she imparted and the love she shared. Though she is no longer with us, Aileen’s love, wisdom, and legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were touched by her.
Rest in peace, dear Mother. You will always be loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
