Tracy Warfield
On Nov. 1, 2024, Tracy Higgins Warfield, 66, of Guilford, passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital. Tracy was born on June 28, 1958. She is survived by her parents, Joseph and Shirley Higgins II; sister, Kelly Clark; sons, Robert Warfield and Joseph Warfield; niece, Morgan Schell and her husband Russell J. Schell IV; niece, Taylor Clark; great-nephew, Russell j Schell V; and great-niece, Madelyn Schell; many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph John Higgins III (2012).
Tracy had a passion for animals; no matter the breed or type, she genuinely cared for them. The most influential animal was, of course, the Morgan horse. One of her most treasured horses resided in her backyard while growing up, named Pine Orchard Squire. Tracy’s love for equestrian and horses grew, leading her to the World Championship at the Grand National Morgan Horse Show in Oklahoma City with her beloved mare, Lady Deidre, in 1984. Lady Deidre became a true symbol of the love Tracy had for horses, and they both devoted many years to teaching kids of all ages to respect, ride, show, and appreciate the Morgan horse.
Tracy then turned her attention and passions toward her sons, spending time with them and family. One of the fondest memories was having her be present with family and traveling up north for many skiing adventures. Tracy retired from state service after serving 25 years as a Revenue Examiner. She was known for always helping others, whether it was caring for their pets or taking them to the doctors; she always welcomed everyone to her home. She will be remembered always for her sense of adventure, kindness to animals, and love for her family. She will be greatly missed.
