Charles Wilkinson

Charles Wilkinson, 75, of Clinton, passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Nov. 10, 2024.

He is survived by his wife, Bethanie Eident Wilkinson; daughter, Katerina E. Wilkinson; and his sisters: Virginia Wilkinson Maillet and husband Donald of Winsted, Kathryn Rathmann, Margaret Wilkinson and Claire Epchook, all of South Royalton, Vermont, Elaine Wilkinson of East Granby, and Elise Wilkinson Burke and husband Gerry of Simsbury; as well as numerous nieces and nephew. Preceding him in death was his father Robert A Wilkinson; his mother Virginia Hayes Wilkinson; his sister Mary Wilkinson Lucus; and his brother James R. Wilkinson.

Charles was born in Milford, and moved to West Hartford, where he attended Northwest Catholic High School. After graduating, he attended the University of Hartford, where he studied philosophy and horticulture. He lived at the family farm in South Royalton, Vermont, where he spent his time honing his horticulture skills with trees and other plants. He especially loved the challenge of growing exotic plants and orchids. He married Bethanie Eident Wilkinson in 1989 while she was in graduate school at Wesleyan University, and they lived in Middletown until 1997. The family welcomed a daughter, Katerina Wilkinson in 1997, and moved Higganum. Recently, the family resided in Clinton, while Charles worked for Mystic Air Quality Consultants of Groton. Charles retired in 2018. He loved gardening, fishing on Cape Cod, sports, and visiting his family farm in South Royalton, Vermont.

Charles loved loyally and deeply, and we take comfort in knowing that Charles is now at peace.

Funeral Mass will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at St. Francis of Assisi, 10 Elm Street, Middletown. For online condolences, please visit www.thegreencremation.com.
